On this Base I have come to see much biased in terms of Narutoverse characters, and to be honest I myself have been guilty of it. But in recent talks with a wise friend of mine, I have finally been able to see a way to show just how unfair and biased people can be, which takes away from the build of a character.
Today my focus will be on compairing to characters from to diffrent Manga's. But i will not be compairing there abilities or skills. I will be compairing their character build, their hype, and their feats, and showing how fans will accept one by not the other. Which will show just how biased and unfair this base is.

The 2 Characters I will be compairing today is:
Hiruzen Sarutobi (Naruto)

And
Gol D. Roger (One Piece)

These two Characters actually have many similarities in their respective manga's but are treated completley diffrent by the fan-bases. I will give you brief backgrounds on each character so that you are aware of thier histories and roles in their respective Mangas.
(One Piece) Gol D Roger
Gol D. Roger, known to most as Gold Roger, was captain of the Roger Pirates, and owner of the legendary treasure known as "One Piece". Though it was never seen in the Manga, it is said the Gol D Roger was an incredibly strong Pirate, so strong that he was given the title and was hailed as the "King of Pirates". As the "King of Pirates", Roger was unboutably the strongest man alive, with 2 rivals (WhiteBeard and Monkey D. Garp) following close behind him.

He apparently had a strong bond with his crew. Rayleigh, his partner, described him as a "magnificent man". Shanks and Buggy also seemed saddened when speaking of the day of their captain's (Gol D Rogers) execution (they both cried a lot at his execution).
In the world of One Piece, there are certain fruits that people eat that grant them extrodinary power, known as devil friuts. This power allows people to conquer the sea's and easily dominate their opponents if their opponents do not posses such power. Gol Roger never ate the fruit, so all of his power came solely from his own hard work and dedication of becoming the strongest.
(Naruto) Hiruzen Sarutobi
Hiruzen Sarutobi was the Third Hokage who hailed from Konohagakure's Sarutobi clan. Though it was never seen in the manga, Hiruzen in his prime was said to be insanely strong. He was so strong and powerful that he was refered to as the "God of Shinobi", and was said to be the strongest Hokage that Konoha has ever had. Even in his old age, he was also said to be the strongest of all the five Kage at the time of his death.

Hiruzen was loved by his village, as it is stated in the databook that he is konoha's favorite hokage. As Hokage, he had also acquired a habit of attempting to end things peacefully, and did what he could to avoid bloodshed amongst his allies and his enemies. According to Kakashi Hatake, Hiruzen loved his students deeply, including Orochimaru, no matter how far he had fallen.
In the world of Naruto, there are certain people who possess the ability to mix their nature types to gain a new more powerful form of ninjutsu known as Kekkei Genkai (KKG) and also people who have special eyes which grant them amazing power known as doujutsu. These abilities allow certain ninja elemental advantages and could quickly allow someone to rise to Jonin level. Hiruzen does not possess such abilities, and gained his reputation as of "God of Shinobi" threw hard work and the dedication to becoming the strongest.
Now for the 2 heavy compairisions that these two characters face:
1. Both are hailed or praised as being the strongest as either "Pirate King"(Strongest Pirate to ever live) or "God of Shinobi"(Strongest hokage to ever live), and neither has had their power demonstrated in the manga whilst in the prime their respective titles were given. Yet, this base seems to take Gol Rogers title as absolute and without speculation, but still finds trouble believing the Hiruzen could be a "Strongest Hokage" in his prime. There is no difference in the way these 2 received there title, the only inconsistent thing in the equation is Fanbase. Fans CHOOSE not to believe the writer's words, it is as simple as that.

2. Both Hiruzen and Gol D. Roger in there respective manga's are often compaired to a rival character on this base. Hiruzen (non kkg) often compaired to Hashirama (kkg), and Gol D. Roger (Non Devil Fruit) often rivaled with Whitebeard (devil fruit user). Yet with never having seen Gol D Roger fight or what he is capable of no one questions that he was indeed stronger that whitebeard, because it was stated in manga. Yet when it comes to Hiruzen being praised as the strongest hokage (in the Manga), many refuse to believe that he could defeat hashirama, even though they have no information of hiruzen's abilities in his prime. Once again these 2 are both coupled with rivals who have extrodinary powers, and have been recognized in their respective manga as the strongest of the rivals, yet for some reason the fans will believe one case and not the other. A pure example of biased.

Often excuses are make to try to take away or belittle the character. In hiruzens case I have seen statements like:
1. "His title "god of shinobi" was only given to him by the people of konoha. No other village recognized his title."
Yet, Minato was given his title of the Yellow Flash by his people, and he was also known by that name in other villages. The same goes for White Fang and Kakashi's CopyCat ninja title. So, that statement made is an example of people making thier own biased assumptions to make a character look weaker than what he is.
2. "Hiruzen was named God of shinobi, not because he is strong, but because he was kind to everyone".
This is one of the most ridiculus thing i have heard. And seems poorly constructed because there are 6 pages in the manga that verify hiruzens strenght in his prime.
3. "Hiruzen is not the strongest Hokage, and if you think he is, then how does he defeat Madara and the Kyuubi"
Here people are again using A>B>C logic. Yet you dont have any information on how strong or fast he was, and no idea of how he battled or what techniques he possed.
There are many other compairisons between the two characters, but i mainly wanted to show the compairisons that strictly show the biased on this base, and how that biased will make a reader deny everything he has seen or was told in the manga in order to make his favorite character seem stronger. The main point of this thread is to show Biased on this base, nothing more than that.
I would like to know your opinions about what I have written and if you to have noticed these things as well. And this just doesnt stop at Hiruzen, there are many characters in the narutoverse who either get biasly over-hyped or biasly under-hyped on this base.
Examples:
Nagato
Itachi
Minato
Kabuto
Hashirama
Tobirama
Naruto
Sasuke
And these just name a few!! So what do you think?
