Hiruzen was suppose to be their student, so he must have known almost all their capacities since they must have participated in plenty of missions together(the mission that costed Nidaime's life for example), but when you see this pic, you can notice he didn't feared them at all. He is really confident about his own power and knows he can defeat them

It is there duty to protect the village/comrades with no fear! Have you ever seen a B!tch Made kage???? No! And every single one of them (at first) has confidence that they will prevail.

I think you are misunderstanding the point of the thread. Hiruzen knew their abilities in and out and probably had formulated plans to counter. Does that mean he is stronger? No. About the whole Hashi/Hiru thing I am on the fence.
