Shadow Clones were noted to be apart of his regular fighting style, and in an elderly state he was capable of splitting apart his reserves into three sections and be fine. Not saying he has it, but you're under estimating his chakra pool.

You're suggesting that he was possibly a Sage before becoming Hokage? That's ludicrous, considering the fact that Danzo and Hiruzen were still rivals at that point. In fact, Danzo was only one step behind Hiruzen his whole life, something that surely wouldn't have been the case had Hiruzen possessed Sage Mode. To say that he did have Sage Mode is speculation. To say that he can enter Sage Mode at this point is wrong.

I'm saying that he can't enter it now, even if he did have access to it before, which even then is speculation.

Are you honestly going to try and say that Hiruzen was fine? Smh he was getting tossed around like a ragdoll by the weakened Hokage who were toying with him. It's plot and plot alone that Orochimaru didn't have them target the clones, Hiruzen would've been doomed at that point
