1.Edo Tensei gives the reincarnated infinite chakra and regeneration.
2.Hashirama beat EMS madara without these effects.
3.Oro summoned Hashi and Tobirama against the third both with effects of edo tensei (Not to mention Oro was kage level at the time).
With that said how could hiruzen be "Hype"?

I just made a topic on this exact same issue. The general consensus is that Senju Harashima wasn't reincarnated properly as Kabuto's Edo Tensei is much more refined (eg. talk about how Kabuto revived him in his "prime"). Additionally Orochimaru did not know his true potential and wasn't able to utilize him fully.

Also something else to do with Kishi & power levels in Part 1 and 2 being on different scales. Overall Hiruzen is not nearly as strong as Sasuke/Naruto now BUT he had something that those two didn't and that's the RDG tech. They need a high level ability that can deal with souls right now or they're pretty much screwed.
