Hiruzen-Hashirama--->PLOT

Hiruzen was called the "God of the Shinobi" back then because Kishimoto didn't care about making anyone else stronger than Hashi.
Hashirama looked unimpressive in the fight not because Orochimaru was "toying with him" or they were puppets, it's because it was PART 1(plot no jutsu)

Kishi changed the tone of the manga when he decided that the story was now all about bloodlines(kk), and So6p shit. He decided to make Hiruzen powerful in part 1 only to show us ACTION and a kage-level-battle !

in every chapter kishi makes clear that everything can change,
and that includes character's strength

I agree with you. I just wish people would stop this Hiruzen > Hashirama thing. its absurd. The TRUE God of shinobi was the So6p, Hiruzen was just given that title by the same stupid ninja that tought itachi was evil.

i also agree, but lets not downplay hiruzen, he was still a great ninja, especially in his prime, if his old age is any indication.
