Hiruzen breaks Kage-caliber genjutsu with just his nose. He uses his sheer prowess to smell them out instantly and blitzes them, grabing hold of the casters real body to end the illusion.

This was a kage level genjutsu used by Hashirama, yet Hiruzen saw through it neg difficulty and countered it.

This is a manga fact.

Itachi is not kage level, high jounin at most. All his genjutsu arsenal is nothing to Hiruzen. Using them would be a waste of chakra before Hiruzen

The laws of nature do not apply to the God of Shinobi. Genjutsu Dissipitation, Chakra Transfer, and causing physical pain to ones self is what breaks a genjutsu in the shinobi world....except for Hiruzen. His incredible power and wisdom allows him to break kage level genjutsu with his nose.

He was 70 years old when he did this..... imagine prime, he would break Kotoamatsukami by blinking his eyes probably.

Thats what Enma is for. Enma just tells him they used a genjutsu, Hiruzen realizes like how Mifune did and snaps out of it. He is too hax.
