Hinata has yet to show off the Twin Lion 64 Palms. She had used 64 palms on the MokuJoukie, and then activated Twin Lion Fist.

I was personally hoping with some Byakugan developement, but ehh....can't have everything you want in life!

Neji used the 64 palms as the normal technique. Hinata is combining her Lion fists with the 64 palms, making it at least 20 times stronger. Her lion fists already cause craters the size of Sakura's punches.

Actually, the technique has never been shown once in the Manga....when she went to save Naruto against Pain, it was simply use of Juuken to break the ground. She never actually touched Pain.

Most likely, Twin Lion Fist was an alternative move Hinata developed due to her inability to hit Tenketsu as well as failing to perform the Palm Strikes.

As such, I theorize that the Lion Fists actually cause massive failure in the chakra network or organst that it hits. This would make sense because this is the typical Gentle Fist style, but re-wired to suit someone not talented in the normal practition of the Gentle Fist arts.

With her new use of the 64 palms....adding the chakra/organ wrecking Fist will likely cause extreme organ failure, and probably easy deaths that are basically instantaneous. Which would pay homage to Hinata's gentle nature...and the Gentle Fist in general. Most likley this will allow Hinata to use the 64 Palms in more of a dancing motion to where she targets multiple enemies, and balances out the 64 palms into multiple entities!

Hinata is getting stronger and showing us what a Hyuuga CAN do.

But it still won't make up for the death of the Hyuuga genius....

That's what I was referring to. Sakura hitting the ground is like equal to Hinata hitting the ground with her Lion fists. adding that to the 64 palms simply makes your chakra points explode, rather than just shut down.

Oh! I thought you were being sarcastic or something. You are right though, it's simply the most awesome technique, though Gai's Hirodora is a simple beauty. That is the epitome of taijutsu awesomeness!

Neji busted a 128 palm and Hinata has barely surpassed the 64 palm, so no. That and she doesn't have anything on his kaiten. So as you were. *_* The thing that people need to get is that if Hinata had to fight Neji all over again, he'd beat her any day. He TOLD her his trick to surpass the 64 palm so without that, she wouldn't have been able to in the first place. Why? Because he was always one step ahead. ;)

She didn't combine both of these techs. She just used Lion fist after 64 forms. The chakra formation around her hands isn't present before that. You jumped the gun.

Next chapter is probably the tie in Chapter for Hinata's move as a complete move.

Sorry not canon :(

The rest I agree on, he did tell her the trick, but that doesn't mean she's not close to him. I didn't say she was above him, I said she surpassed his 64 palms. Hers do much more damage, when integrated with the lion fists. Even one hit could prove deadly, if properly placed.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but Hinata has improved Neji's 64 palms. It seems she combined her Lion fist technique with it, seen here:

I think Hinata has received her final, and most powerful power up yet! I like french fries to all of those who read this. If you dip them in cheese, it makes an excellent dish. Seriously...

I think the Gentle Step and the Gentle Fist are two different styles.

The concept of the Gentle Fist and its ability to affect the body is based around the Taoist martial art of T'ai chi ch'uan. Or, rather, that is the concept of using one's chakra to affect the chakra network of another.

The -application- or 'style' of the Gentle Fist is based around Baguazhang. The forms are largely circular in motion and we have a direct correlation to the concept of the use of 'trigrams' from the Tao Te Ching:

The Gentle Step is, thus far, unique to Hinata - but seems to be heavily influenced by Xingyiquan with its focus on powerful, rapid frontal assaults developed out of spear combat:

The dead give-away is the use of animal references - a first within the Hyuuga clan, and an exact match to Xingyiquan.

Basically, when Hinata uses the Gentle Step - she's going Zhao Yun on the enemy.

Though I suspect what she means is that she's about to actually do something else (might be better with a different translation) - involving the concept of Wu and Wei:

To quote:

"As one diminishes doing—here 'doing' means those intentional actions taken to benefit us or actions taken to change the world from its natural state and evolution—one diminishes all those actions committed against the Tao, the already present natural harmony. As such one begins to cultivate Tao, one also becomes more in harmony with Tao; and, according to another great ancient Taoist philosopher Zhuangzi, attains a state of Ming, or 'clear seeing'.[citation needed] It is in the state of Ming[citation needed] that the Taoist is in full harmony with Tao, and 'having arrived at this pointless point of non-action, there is nothing that is left undone.' It is upon achievement of this Chinese equivalent to 'enlightenment' that a sage begins to perform wei wu wei, or 'action without action.' Thus the sage will be able to work in harmony with Tao to accomplish what is needed, and, working in perfect harmony with the Tao, leave no trace of having done it."

The goal of the Gentle Fist - of the Byakugan... is Wei Wu Wei - a concept not unlike that of Sage Mode.

The Hyuuga were the original human sages - not absorbing and using nature energy - but brushing against it with their own to affect change, and their eye could see the nature around them (actually - the Byakugan's abilities are reminiscent of the Sage's sensory ability / harmony with nature - except manifested in an organ as opposed to a state of mind).

Sage Mode is fundamentally and conceptually linked to the Byakugan and the themes of the Hyuuga.
