Then why, pray tell, are you bothering to write?
You're the reason people have to be told to clear and safe their weapon before cleaning it, aren't you.
Sakura, at best, is going to make herself useful and heal someone who can fight.
At worst, she's going to end up accidentally poisoning Naruto, or something.
There's no significance to her character. She has not surpassed Tsunade, and the best thing for her character would be for her to realize that she has been left in the dust and her role is to survive and learn to do better in the future.
You'll find this quite enlightening:

Hinata has always been the main role, as have the Hyuuga. That part will likely be hinted at as the war progresses, and will likely comprise the final story arc for the series.
Why, you ask?
The series has been based around religious pinnings. The Rinnegan represents Budhism. The Sharingan represents Shintoism. The Byakugan represents Taoism. The occular powers are represented by religions/ideals/beliefs.
Shintoism derived much of its philosophy from Taoism (though its most primitive form was ancestral worship combined with minor and greater deities). Budhism is not entirely incompatible with Taoism - and the two were often intermingled within Chinese culture.
Which should be revealing. The Rinnegan is not a blood-line trait. It is a 'gift of enlightenment' - the realization of the 'inner god' (so to speak).
I suspect that will be revealed before much longer.
The Uzumaki and the Hyuuga predate the Senju and the Uchiha. The Uzumaki and Hyuuga, as expressions of Yin and Yang, have a common history. The Sage and his wife were Hyuuga and Uzumaki. Naruto, taking up the role as the next Sage, was destined to have a Hyuuga counterpart - also known as Hinata.
Why was it Hinata who fought Neji? Why develop that family so strongly while virtually ignoring the impressive Aburame and Yamanaka? Why not even give Sakura parents or a front door, but give the girl who had all of four panels (as part of the background) before the Chunin exams?
Why was it Hinata who stepped in front of Pain?
Why was it Hinata who was there when Naruto began to falter?
Sakura fans like to say that it's because Kishimoto likes trolling the 'shippers.' But when you actually look at the story and what it ties into... it's pretty clear that Hinata was planned as Naruto's counterpart (not necessarily romantically - mind you) from the beginning (though it will likely end up going that way).
Sakura is just there. For whatever reason. And it shows.
What backstory does she have?
There's none. Zip. Zero.
There's no happy backstory. There's no sad backstory. She has no family life. There are no elaborations upon her training with Tsunade. She is a literal ghost in the plot. She's the main character but we know as much about her as tenten.
Ayame - "the ramen girl" has more story and 'flesh' to the bones of her character.
*sigh*
Think like an author. Why kill Neji?
A convenient excuse to bring up destiny, perhaps?
The role Neji played, with regards to Naruto, was relatively arbitrary. Just about any one of his friends could have died, there, and Kishimoto could have drawn the same effect. Hell, a partially dismembered Tsunade could have incredibly crawled over and died at his feet, and it would have been the same (or the realization that HQ just got nuked and the parents of his friends died).
Numerous points in the plot could have come about. We've already seen how averse Kishimoto is to killing characters off and how critical his selection of character-killing is. Neji was selected for a specific reason with broad-sweeping implications.
There is a specific reason behind Neji's death - it's a glimpse into the next story arc (though I'm only partially able to interpret it).
To be more accurate - it is Naruto and Hinata that will become more relevant than team 7. Though I would not rank Sakura as a Sanin - or anything close. Naruto is the most deserving of the title, with Sasuke a rather distant second. Sakura sits below Kakashi in line for Sanin titles.
The whole Sanin parallel was a minor distraction rendered irrelevant under more pertinent plot developments.
Who... Hinata?
Or Sakura?
Both are quite capable of finding a suitable husband.
My point is that Sakura is largely irrelevant to the developing plot. There will be a scene involving Team Seven's reunion, Sakura promising to be useful, and then we will just see her watching everyone else be useful to the main plot.
She's simply there. That's all her character is. Kishimoto really, really tried to flesh her character out in the first story arc... but all of his scheming was exhausted in that first arc. Her character lost all plot significance afterward - because she was never really meant to be a main character to begin with. The first arc of Part II was tweaked and designed for her character (likely at the prodding of toy and clothing marketers who were looking at the rather abysmal sales of Sakura-oriented merchandise).
It really isn't a mark against Sakura... Kishimoto is just not that great of an author. He just had a cool idea, knew the right people, and had the balls to push to publish his idea.
