Hinata has dark blue hair and fair skins, inherited traits from her mother. She also has the Byakugan, the white eyes of her clan which also has a slight lavender colour in the anime. She is normally seen with a shy expression in Part I but in Part II, she is only seen timid when around Naruto. Like everyone else in her clan, Hinata has the pair of Byakugan eyes which, when activated, stimulates the veins and arteries around the eyes immediately.
Part I appearance: Hinata’s hair is in a similar cut to a hime hairstyle but shorter and more leveled on the top with strands framing her face at chin length. She also wears a cream coloured hooded jacket. A fire symbol can be seen on it on the upper right and left sleeves and fure, including navy blue pants. After becoming a Genin, she started to wear her Konoha forehead protector around her neck. At the Chunin Exams final, she is wearing a long sleeved, light blue blouse with a high collar. This included dark blue pants. And at home, she wears a traditional Hyuga garb. This consites of a simple and lose fitted robe with different coloured trims and an under shirt.
Part II Appearance: Hinata, in Part II, has now developed into a young woman with a slender figure. She also kept her straight hime styled hair but allowed her hair to grow to waist length. The short strands that framed her face before still remained but is now shoulder length. She also wears a new costume consisting of a long sleeved and lavender/cream coloured zip up jacket with lavender cuffs with navy blue pants and black sandals (low heeled). Hinata stills wears her forehead protector around her neck but it’s colour has changed from blue to black. During the Fourth Great Shinobi War, she dons the standard uniform of her village’s flak jacket. However, Hinata appears to have decided not to wear her forehead protector.

Personality:
Hinata is a shy, serene and kind person, always using appropriate name suffixes. Because of her kindness, her cousin Neji, and her father saw this as a flaw. She also dislikes fighting and competing. Hinata lacks self-confidence, probably because of her father’s negative views on her but Hinata still works hard to improve herself. Because of her upbringing, Hinata is one of the first and few characters to see Naruto’s pained childhood and desire to be acknowledged by everyone. Hinata is also a very empathetic person and thinks before acting. And when she summons up enough courage and confidence, she has the ability to succeed in what she is focused on. During Part I, Hinata slowly opens up and, in Part II, she is able to decide on her actions alone and, ultimately, becomes more confident.
Hinata’s relationships with her teammates are positive, with Kiba acting as a big brother towards her, caring and concerning about her wellbeing. For example, he tries to encourage Hinata to forfeit if she had to fight against Neji or Gaara in the Chunin Exams. Even though he is quiet about this, Shino holds confidence in Hinata’s abilities and will point out to others when they worry about her.
Hinata is closest to her Sensei, Kurenai, who is not only interested in Hinata’s growth and improvements as a Ninja but also as a young woman, a person. Unlike Hinata’s father, Kurenai encourages her to improve and coaches her in ways that will ensure Hinata’s learning. Kurenai has also witnessed Hinata’s difficulty dealing with her father’s demanding and pressured teachings. After Hinata was defeated by Neji in the Chunin Exams, Kurenai silently congratulated her for her efforts and resolve. By the end of Part I, Hinata had a better relationship with Neji and also her father who began to train the two Hyuga cousins together.

Hinata has always had also admired Naruto with later developed into much stronger feelings, ultimately leading her to fall in love with him. Even after being unable to see him for two and a half years, Hinata still had the same feelings towards him, even fainting when she first met him again. Right at the beginning, Hinata’s feelings towards the Shinobi were obvious as she often fainted or blushed when interacting with him. Her feelings for him were clear to almost every character except for Naruto himself who was oblivious to her feelings at first until she confessed. Naruto has shown a great deal of care for Hinata, holding her as a close friend because of her similar goals to his dreams, to become acknowledged by others. Because of Hinata’s loyalty and belief in him, Hinata went to great lengths to protect him. For example, after her confession during the invasion of Pain, she protected him at the cost of her own life (This is also the first time Hinata ever spoke to Naruto without her cheeks going red or stuttering).
By the time the Fourth Great Shinobi War began, Hinata demonstrated more bravery and confidence than ever before, willing to put her life on the live in order to protect her friends and family. Hinata has also resolved to protect her teammates and village no matter what, stating to Shino losing in the war was not an option, for Naruto’s safety. And finally, as the entire Shinobi force rush to Naruto’s side, Hinata quietly resolves to herself she will, in the end, be the one to stand beside Naruto, holding his hand.

History:
Hinata is the eldest child of the Hyuga clan’s leader, Hiashi Hyuga. As the first born, Hinata is made heiress. However, she apparently lost this position to her ounger sister Hanabi, as her father saw her as a failure because of her lack of self-confidence.
As a child, she was kidnapped by a head Ninja from Kumogakure, who was making a peace treaty with Konoha, had actually planned to steal the Byakugan. Hiashi killed the kidnapper and saved her, only for Kumo to demand compensation, wanting Hiashi’s dead body. Even worse, the Kumogakure Ninja had just made a treaty with Konoha. This put an end to Hinata’s uncle, Hizashi Hyuga’s life in order to protect his twin brother. This incident caused Neji Hyuga’s hatred towards his cousin to spark.
Hiashi has high expections of his daughter because of her postion of heiress, therefore pushing her during intense training. But Hinata’s slow progress and weakness dishearted Hiashi, eventually making him lose all hope in her. Instead, Hisashi focused training Hinata’s younger sisters, Hanabi Hyuga more as she appeard more promising than Hinata, making her the new heiress. When Hinata was put into Team 8, Hiashi had lost all interest in her, leaving Kurenai to care and train her.
Hinata’s negative relationship with her father caused her to downgrade herself even more and would cry alone most of the time. It wasn’t until she met Naruto, she changed. Naruto was treated as an outcast by nearly everybody in the village which Hinata was able to relate to, desiring to be acknowledged by others. She was amazed by Naruto’s ability to never give up even when he had no one supporting him or nothing good in his lonely life.
In the anime, it was shown at one point during Hinata’s childhood, Naruto protected her from bullies. Despite Naruto never meeting Hinata, he protected her, not allowing the bullies to belittle and insult her. Since the kids outnumbered him, Naruto was left unconscious. Hinata became inspired by Naruto’s brave actions and wish to become acknowledged, to become Hokage. And like Naruto’s Ninja way, Hinata always tried her best and never gave up, so she could become acknowledged and praised as well. Despite the elders warning the young Hinata to avoid the Jinchuriki, this meeting sparked Hinata’s undying love and admiration for/towards Naruto.
