why do certain members have highlighted usernames such as purple and orange

what colors can you have?
what do these colors mean?

Orange coloured names are Sensei ( a rank in NatutoBase RP), cyan is for NB contest winners.

Rest of the coloured names belong to staff members. Red for administrators, green for global/super/senior mods and blue or pink for normal mods. ( pink is used for female mods)
