I only read the manga so I can't say much for the anime, but I enjoyed it. Kohta and Saeko are my favorite characters.

Have read the manga & watched the anime; love it, not for the ecchi,, but just that it is exciting & action-packed & interesting to look at the zombie apocalypse from a teenage POV,a fresh take on the genre. Saeko is awesome!
An interview with Shouji Sako the artist of HOTD at a con in Germany said he was prepping for next chapters & the anime needs a few more chapters for a full 2nd season, so be patient, more HOTD in the (hopefully) near future. Check Scans of the Dead blog for more info.
