Regardless, they were apart of the exams and the 3rd Hokage w/ all his knowledge of history considered them them an established village. Idk how he could've though

I agree wholeheartedly. Otogakure was easily my favorite, and had my favorite character from part 1, Dosu. Dosu was probably the second smartest Genin behind Shikamaru, and he was an unexpected dark horse. I would even say Dosu would have beaten Shikamaru.
