Now, you forget that Konohamaru knows about Hidan's ritual so he isn't getting close to Hidan unless he's setup his strategy exactly right (even without the ritual as you said, why would a person that has KB and is younger lunge into a straightforward attack against a person with a huge scythe?)

Konoharu wants to rasengan him thats why. shadow clone shurikens wont do shit. lol. clones wont do shit. Hidan has high durability feats.

Don't forget, the whip on Hidan's scythe is long range.

Hidan's scythe is unique. It has a rope to attack long range. It has 3 blades to deal tremendous damage. The 3 blades also increase the chances for him to draw blood. The only drawback of the scythe is that its heavy so his attacks are slower.

Also account X factors. Kishi said he has other curse jutsus AND HIS SCYTHE CAN SPLIT INTO DIFFERENT PARTS.

You probably think so because Hidan is "dumb". But lets not forget how he got asuma's blood. He attacked the "weaker" shikamaru to lure Asuma. Asuma gave chase and got tagged by the scythe.

BTW, the immortal arc was RUSHED so Hidan didn't get a chance to showcase his full arsenal. The significance of the Arc is to set Shikamaru up as a major character who could defeat immortals. He is the 7th Hokage's right hand man after all.
