Im interested in seeing people's opinions about this fight.

While Hidan seems to be considered fodder one thing i must say is his CQC skills, reflexes and agility were actually unreal. With that being said who do you think would win in a fight? Hidan with his scythe or Gai with his nunchuka

Unless gai can knock off hidans limbs i dont see how he could win

Guy wins this easy, Hidan is fast, but Guy is faster. Without his Immortality, Guy would end him with one blow to the head, this also removes his ability to use his circle, because that result in instant death. Hidan's weapon isn't meant to kill, only draw blood. Guy would smash his face, before Hidan could really do any damage.

Asuma did a great job combating Kisame

But couldn't touch Hidan once while hidan was fighting him and evading Shadow webbing

Hidan also fought kakashi in CQC

With this being said i dont think it would be as easy as you say it is.

Kisame basically just stands around and uses his sword as a shield. Also, Kakashi was fighting against Hidan and Kakazu, and was out fighting Hidan with ease. Guy is = or greater than Kakashi with his taijutsu, in base form.

With ease? I dont think so Kakashi was pushed back majority of that fight.

the fight was

Team 5 & Kakashi vs Hidan and Kakuza.

Re-read it or i can post scans :D

I know people love to undersell Guy, but a guy who can engage in CQC with the likes of Obito isn't losing to Hidan. Dude.

you do realize Obito is a trash shinobi right? He fundamentally terrible but had lots of powerups. Kakashi showed us how terrible he was. I love Gai and he is an incredible shinobi

I'd give it to Guy but the 'smashing his head' tactic doesn't really seem to be a thing with Naruto biology. Not when Sasuke can piledrive Naruto off a cliff into the ground head-first and he just gets up.

Characters tank fire balls or wind typhoons that raze whole forests but only sustain a couple scratches, you can cut his head off with a sharp implement but their superhuman bodies seem to stop damage like that.

gai sensei easily stomps hidan, he is much more quicker and flexible, but hidan is kind of crafty with that scythe of his so he could possibly gain the advantage. but like you said, no immortality or gates, so hidan can't perform the ritual, leaving the win to guy sensei (idc if he's immortal anyway)

Obito, trash? Wow. At any rate, Kakashi only won 1v1 because Obito let him. Not really sure how to respond to a guy far superior to 97% of the NV being a trash shinobi. 2T Obito was shown to be finally close to kid Kakashi's level before being crushed, so he's certainly not trash as an amped up adult.

Guy cannot do much to Hidan BUT he would definitely disarm him. And then what can Hidan do?

At the same time, Hidan is among the most nimble and agile characters in the series too and was keeping up with Kakashi fine. The only reason he's slowest in the Akatsuki is because of the scythe he carries.

It'd be some fantastic CQC to watch though. Give Hidan small blades of chakra rods as handheld weapons and I think it'd be more balanced. Maybe Guy would even lose in that hypothetical scenario.

Precisely it would be an amazing fight to watch

The problem here is that you are mixing fundamental strengths with overall strength. Yes Obito overall was strong as Kamui was extremely powerful. However fundamentally he was a terrible ninja.

I doubt he would easily win based on feats of both characters. Hidan is EXTREMELY hard to hit and even Kakashi with his Sharingan had trouble taking him down. And both combatants had help

You yourself stated straight up taijustu

Hidan didn't train nearly as intense as guy and isn't nearly as fast as guy.
In a taijustu match hidan would get wrecked.

if hidan couldn't land a hit on kakashi despite getting assists from both the wind and fire mask, he isn't touching guy.

A taijustu master losing to hidan with small blades of chakra ? lol

Does anyone even remotely remember guys training and what it entails ?

You think hidans skill with chakra blades would match guys skills with the nunchakus ?

This site is getting too cray nowadays

Doesn't need skill, needs the element of surprise and the slightest cut. He'd be much faster without the scythe but I already agreed with you that Guy disarms that scythe quite handily.
