He has to make sacrifices to keep it, and also do the ritual. Kakazu critcised him for doing so because it took up too much time.

Hidan is a fun psychopath badass but you have to acknowledge what I said was true (oh and actually vs suigetsu the example you used, Suigetsu's power arm shatters the scythe)

His scythe is indestructible so suigetsu wouldn't be able to break it. Even if he could, I highly doubt Hidan would just stand their and let him do it LOL. Secondly it's true he does require his rituals to keep his immortality. But how does that effect the battle at all? He still doesn't require charkra and he does his rituals away from the battle not during .

Hmm.....Lemme think of people who can beat him. Obito, Kakashi(before losing his eye), Naruto, Itachi, Anyone with sealing jutsu pretty much...

Sealing won't work. And although Hidan is very underrate and very powerful, I think their are more people out there who can defeat him than the ones you named.

Hidan is underrated.

It's understandable to an extent, he has no bells and whistles to make people interested in him while I do appreciate substance over flair.

He's an immortal taijutsu specialist, you can hit him all you want but he only needs to barely scratch you, and most jutsus aren't even going to keep him down unless you hit him with a Rasenshuriken or Jinton or something similar. Even if you know of his ability it won't save you, it just makes you more cautious. The curse is even fairly quick, he just needs to draw his circle and it's started.

To be fair too, the Immortals arc was rushed. Kishimoto confirmed that in an interview, saying that his editors were pressuring him to focus back on Sasuke. In the interview, Kishimoto said that Hidan had other curse jutsus and tricks for his scythe. Sadly, we'll never see them, and he'll forever be looked down on.

nah, 1 v 1 once you seriously injure the guy and he keeps coming, the natural thing that comes to mind is to start severing limbs, anyone who can channel chakra around their blades=instant win over his scythe, and hidan said out his own mouth that he's the slowest member of akatsuki.

Tbh without kakuzu he wouldn't last half an episode, and if he makes his circle, all you have to do is mess up the circle, or prevent him from getting in the circle and such. He's the weakest akatsuki, and is on the verge of being fodder, the ONLY thing he has going is immortality.

That would be the natural thing to do, if it's a viable option. One cannot simply assume that something like that will simply happen, it will be a challenge. It should be noted that Hidan was able to pressure Kakashi in taijutsu and Kakashi was incapable of gaining an advantage, showing Hidan's prowess and quickness against someone as talented as Kakashi.

Why was this thread necro'd? Anyway, Hidan is trash. Only Jonin level taijutsu skills and no long range techniques. His ritual takes to long to be of any use unless plot.
It would be impossible for him to win ANY 2 v 1 scenario.
And your overestimating his durability. Big Ball Rasengan turns him into paste. FRS splits his atoms apart. Sakura's/Tsunade's punch turns him into juice. He can be Sealed,buried,melted, or just plain blown to pieces.
He isn't kage level, or is he beating anyone kage level.
At highest his skills are Jonin, and combined with his immortality and stamina makes him barely high-Jonin.

No offence but you are seriously underestimating him. You don't seem to understand that the ONLY way to defeat him is through decapitating him. That is it. Rasengan won't work, punches won't work, sealing won't work, melting won't work. And yes he isn't Kage level, but neither is the majority of the Akatsuki. (Bear in mind I am slightly drunk writing this so forgive me if I come across as offensive or if my spelling is wrong).

In every Hidan fight, hell- every SWORD fight in this show when two people have weapons of some kind there is ALWAYS a lock. A moment where two characters do this:

Read the section on his immortality. It mentions nothing about him needing sacrifices.

As for the scythe I remember reading somewhere that it was indestructible. I further this with the moment when Hidan threw those two swords at Asuma and Asuma hit them with his charka blades. This completely shattered the swords. When Hidan engaged with his scythe the charka blades had no effect on the scythe. Even if it's not indestructible it shows that it is extremely strong. I don't think that Suigetsu wold be able to break it if Asuma couldn't.

BTW although I disagree with your view I am glad you are actually putting thought into your points. While most people just troll without any reason.

Also I don't believe Hidan is a Kage or any thing. In terms of the Akatsuki I would rate it like this:

Tier 1 (Among the most powerful Naruto characters, the power of a god): Pain

Tier 2 (Very few can challenging them, only a Kage could match them): Itachi, Sasori, Orochimaru

Tier 3 (Very powerful, could probably hold their own against a Kage): Kisame, Kakuzu, Sasuke (Mangekyō Sharingan not eternal).

Tier 4 (Some of the most powerful Jounin out their, few can match them): Deidara, Hidan, Konan

Tier 5 (Powerful but nothing that special) : Suigetsu, Jugo, Zetsu

Tier 6 (Weak by Akatsuki standards) : Karin, Yūra, Mukade
