Hidan Alive or Dead?

Kakazu said when revived that Hidan's absence from the war meant that he was still alive but i mean, hes been down there for a really long time now, he's in bits and pieces so obviously hasn't been able to perform his rituals to gain Immortality, how has been surviving?

In the filler episodes Kabuto found some of his DNA in the woods where he fought Shikamaru and used it to create a clone of Hidan, that must mean Kabuto had some interest in using him right? maybe implying that if he could have used Hidan in the war as an Edo he would have?

What Do you guy's think? is Hidan still alive and bordering on the brink of death, or do you think he's already worm chow and Kabuto just couldn't be bothered to dig him up?

And if he ate food would it just fall through the giant hole that is his throat
He can talk without being connected to his body so even tho on wiki it says it i find it hard to believe lack of food kills him

it's a good question if his rituals that make him immortal it depends how often he has to do them to remain immortal.
maybe he can last a very long time immortal without doing the ritual.
i remember him doing the rituals after a fight but that was just to praise lord jashin (if thats how ya spell it)
but in the manga that much time hasn't past has it from his death well in years anyway it isn't over a year since he was chopped up was it.
myself i reckon he is still alive (if the manga states it) but eventually he will die from lack of ritual and praise to lord jashin.
