Ive noticed that kishi puts both itachi and minato on a pedestal, because they are related to the two main characters of the show. Meaning naruto surpasses minato and sasuke surpasses itachi. For that to seem legit he has to put them on a reasonable high pedestal. Bm naruto has surpassed minato. In fact when he mastered rs a technique that minato didnt, he surpassed not only him but kakashi and jiraiya. When he mastered sm, an ability that is rare he further surpassed both. When he gained learnt to control the fox, he stood further increased this and when he became a perfect jin he went out of sight. Note that just because he has surpassed them deosnt mean he will beat them. He will lose in sm to both jiraiya and minato but with km and bm, he obliterates.

Onto itachi and sasuke. I do agree that from what we have seen from the latest releases although sasuke has surpassed itachi when it comes to power (ems although that itself isnt clear enough), he still hasnt surpassed him in a lot of fields. I do believe sasuke will get the rennigan and with that he obliterates itachi, but that is power alone. Basically as its been said both naruto and sasuke are equal and grow in power together so whilst i believe they are more or less stronger than itachi and minato, i believe itach iand minato will always been smarter in battle. I do not believe they will surpass them when it comes to this field

Kishi (as the creator) has no "favorite characters" he does however make people in the story stronger than others, weaker than others, bad, good, loved, hated, cool, lame, ect. He makes the story consist of characters that anybody who reads the Naruto manga can find certain ones to relate to. Everyone has a different opinion. Leave it at that.


Oh and p.s. The only reason why you saw Itachi get stabbed by kabuto so many times is because that's what IZANAMI is! Its a loop of series and events that are continuously repeated. It just so happens that those events are itachi being stabbed.
