Here's a riddle, I bet you can't solve ;)

A father and his son are in a car. An accident happens and the son gets severely injured. He gets transported to the hospital where the on-call churgeon refuses to operate with the words: "I don't feel able to operate on my own son."
How is this possible, seeing as how the father was in the car with him?

I'll post the anwser here if someone gets it right.

I actually think you guys can solve it, but that would make me feel bad since I didn't get it right the first time x)
