Help with USB stick

Alright, first of all I hope that I'm in the right thread, but I couldn't find any other thread that would be suitable for this question. Sorry if it's in the wrong one :ghehe:
Anyway, like the title says, I'm having trouble with my USB stick. Yesterday when I wanted to save my story, it suddenly said that it couldn't find my usb anymore. I saved the document on my computer then and tried to find my usb again, but it seems to have suddenly disappeared. I'm panicking right now, because all my stories are on that stick + some of my schoolwork and I would really like to have that all back of course. (My memory may be good, but it's not that good that it remembers every detail I have written in those documents)
So does anyone have any ideas as to what I could do to have it all back? I never dropped the stick nor has it been damaged in any other way, so I really don't know what could have happened to it T-T

Have you tested sticking it into all different ports?

Do you normally just take it out or do you click 'safely eject'?

Try to use it on a different computer.


This is why I never use a usb stick for school work



Also if that doesn't work

Go to device manager(Control Panel-System-hardware-device manager) look for question marks there and uninstall the device -right mouse button->uninstall, if none try to find your pen drive and uninstall it.

And then take it out and in again.

I don't click on safely eject, because most of the times I just forget it, but this time I put it in and it worked fine and then when I want to save it, it was suddenly gone. I didn't get any warning or a message to search for errors (I got that message a few days ago and then it said the stick was fine)

Euhm, let's see ... I think for 6 or 7 months. Not long in comparison with my other usb sticks

If you don't safely eject sometimes these things can happen i'm afraid....

Damn, I didn't safely eject for years and even a stick that was almost broken worked fine and now with this, it screws up -_- God damn it.
Any idea on how to fix it?

Doesn't seem to be physical damage, though I can't be 100% sure. Try what Noctics suggested, there might be some faulty devices/drivers disturbing it.

The usb metal part that goes inside the slot seems to be damaged! The part that saves the data perhaps is not damaged!
If your data is lost you can recover it using the software get data back!
And yeah ur metal part might be fixed
