I've seen plenty of awesome ava's around here. User "Ezio.." has pretty decent ones I really like and want to try out but I can't hit the bulls-eye with this one.

So anyone knows how its done? An link to a tutorial perhaps?

Avatars are better if you simply crop and touch-up a really good stock.

I don't get why people go through the process of putting so much effort into small graphics like avatars, when they could spend time doing something bigger and flashier.

It's better if you start learning how to touch-up a stock and crop/resize it to the way you want, like -S- said. But if you want, learn some signature tutorials on YouTube and apply the skills on an avatar.

Thanks for the mention. :coffee: Anyways, it depends whether you want to work with stocks or renders. Generally, you'd use stocks as they are easier to use since all you really need to do is mess around with adjustment layers (gradient maps, photo filters, exposure, curves etc..) and maybe sharpen them depending on your taste. With renders, it's more difficult as you have to make your own background and such so yea just stick to stocks and you'll be good.

Perhaps this may help you?

Just be good and use a good program it's like drawing, you just know how to do it.... You're either good at it or you suck.

I was under the impression avatars were usually made starting with renders lol
