Hello! So the problem is that m really depressed these days. I dont know if it is because I watch anime and the endings make me sad or due to the fact that I dont have friends or cuz I'm in my room all the time but m really depressed about something .. To make things worse .. my father looks at me with this disgusted look like he wishes i was never born :'( . I really dont know what to do .. Maybe this isnt the place to talk about it but m gonna kill myself if i dont get it out ! Can anyone help me ?

Engage in activities that take your mind off the feelings. Do things you like doing, it helps. Also, spend as much time around others as possible, be it friends or family. The more you're alone, the more you'll believe you're closed off, when you aren't. Also, if your father is maintaining such behaviour, talk to him about it.

Depression is a part of life, and it affects all of us from time to time. You are not alone. We may seem like internet profiles, but you can talk to us anytime you feel down. That's why we're still here.

Anime can sometimes make you feel depressed, depending on the circumstances. I felt depressed after seeing the ending to Angel Beats! I dealt with it by writing my own ending, and everytime I watch AB, I just skip the last episode and read my version of the ending.

Sometimes staying at home in your room all the time may make your mind clogged, and this may lead to depression and stress. Try to get out more often. If you keep seeing the same scenery all the time (your room), your mind will become "bored", and you will interpret this as depression. Even if you don't have friends, just get out, go for a jog to clear your mind. Exercise really helps. When you sit in your room, it becomes a prison not only for your body, but your mind as-well. try to go for a jog or a run once in a while. Make it a habit to go out at least once a day and go for a jog. Not only will it help change the scenery, it will cause your body to release endorphins which relieve stress and clear your mind.

If you're father treats you like that, just block him off and ignore him. It will work.

Isn't this like clear enough?! You're in your room all the time locked up inside yourself and don't want to be part of the real world. You're obviously anti-social since you say you have no friends. Your father obviously looks at you that way because you aren't a reproductive member of the society but are a sole shut-in who spends all his time alone in his room not doing anything smart. All this can be changed in a really simple way.

Go out, meet people, talk, socialize, study, take interest in some things, get a job and leave the fricking PC alone. Idk what your life is like but sitting in your room and being sad over things instead of changing them won't do shit. You're the only one who can change your life. Not your parents, not your siblings and absolutely not people on the internet. I can't do anything besides give you unbased advice and hope you'll listen. So stop being sad and change because the problem is in your way of thinking.

No but seriously, just live it to the end, simple as that, you can't control what environment you are in, but people around does respond to your action, just keep faking a smile until you are actually happy, take a risk and be nice to someone and have a surprising response, that would make you feel better,
oh and get out, get out of the house and go on some sort of long drive or something(but set some destination) to think stuff through, but it has to be outdoors while moving where you can see what's going on out there in the world, life and stuff, you know, that's pretty much it, just go and do something, move, don't sit in front of a computer,
also I would suggest taking a break form people around(really suggest this) for a while, hence the outdoors thing.

But assuming you're not joking around:

You need to ground yourself. Be in the present with your thoughts and not spend too much time dreaming as emotions like disappointment, loneliness and such come forth through secluding yourself. Maybe you could find some activity that involves others and no computer. Confront your father directly on his attitude. Don't give him a chance to shrug your question off. Do it in front of the rest of your family, for example.

Hey i dunno how old you are but if your still in school try talking to your schools guidance councilor(dunno if your will have one but in Australia we do) he/she will be able to help you.The fact you watch anime and the endings make you sad has no relation to this.ALOT of my...aquaintences(not friends we talk but like you we dont really see eachother outside of school) cry at the end of some anime and their guys aswell.As to staying in your room is that what YOUR comfortable with? some people are just anti-social by nature and personality.Sure we go out once in a blue moon but we dont need to interact with alot of people.As to the look of disgrace you get from your father.Do you have any older siblings or other relations you could talk to? it helps but your father may just be giving you them looks because you dont do what he wants.E.g be outgoing and stuff like he probably was when he was a kid.They need to learn times change.If you enjoy computers and graphic then if your in school see if you could get into a school paid certificate III in a media course of some kind.If you do you'll find more like minded people.(Speaking from experience)

The majority of you(beside silver +reincarnate) all talk as if you dont even know what its like and haven't even been in a situation similar to him.Shut up please.All this talk about going out socializing is making me angry. Someone who is depressed doesnt simply change like you guys are saying.there are so many things that could be happening to him and you all just brush it off and say stop being sad....Ive been here in his EXACT SAME SITUATION its hard to change believe me.so please if your not going to help shut up.Saying just change and stop being sad will make it ****ing worse.

You need to find out the reason why you’re depressed.

Is it because of loneliness since you don’t have any friends? Do you feel jealous and/or sad when you see people having a great time with each other because you think you’re the odd one out? If so, you need to realise there are others out there who are experiencing the same pain as well, and you should be glad that they're happy. Really, all I can suggest is to be positive and interact more with those around you (and this includes your family). Whether you’re a student or some waiter working in a restaurant, you’re bound to be surrounded with people you see often (other students, work colleagues, etc...). Try to form associations with these people by interacting more with them. Little things such as having a small talk, giving off a smile, etc... can develop into bigger things in the future. However, don’t force the bond; be yourself. You are who you are and there’s no changing that. Appreciate yourself and acknowledge your flaws. There are people out there who can become best friends with you, for what you are.

Also, try finding some hobbies/activities that gets your ass out of your room (no offence). This may give you an opportunity to interact with people who share the same interest as you. After all, likes attracts likes, amirite? Plus, this can relieve the sense of worthlessness that you may be feeling as a result of sitting in a room all day long and doing nothing else about your life. Whatever the reasons are, you need to find it and talk to your father about it, since it appears he is worried about you too.

If you are still feeling like this every day and have thoughts of suicide more then once a week, i suggest you go see your GP for further guidance and help.

Some people can go into a state of depression when things aren't going their way but will eventually get over it. However if you still feel depressed constantly then go see your GP.

The link below is an anxiety and depression checklist - it is not a test for you to choose answers that you know will tell you, you are depressed. Please answer them truthfully and look at the results. You can print the results out and show them to your GP.

You have to build a life, find things you like to do or are good at or interest you and get into it. Meet people you'd like to know but be realistic. And when I say get into something I mean something real, where it can actually help your life. Like a learn a skill that you can use, learn an instrument, get into sports or working out, find something you can be passionate about.

Gaming and anime while fun don't really add anything to your life unless you're going out to conventions, cosplaying, gaming parties, doing it with people you actually know, etc. Then maybe, but other than that it just kills time. You have to build relationships and have a craft of some sort.

You can also get a job.

Don't commit suicide either. You'll come out as a better person if you overcome all those problems. Just join clubs in school that share the same interest as you, i.e. anime club, to meet new people/friends.

Go outside, first of all. Your dad is probably not happy that you are inside all day and don't do much. If you're in high school utilize that and join a sport, or an after school activity.

Don't worry. I was like that in my early years of junior high. I would wear a hoodie, all the time long sleeves that covered my hands, was into that skater crap and always kept away from society. All of that pretty much changed towards high school, although I was into athletics all my life though I just was too shy to be around a lot of people.

Just go outside, find friends, do crap, we all get depressed but staying in your room all day doesn't help you relieve it.
