Help me understand this...

Having witnessed Naruto and Sasuke go through so much together for so long touches me greatly when I watch their fight against Momoshiki. Seeing two men, who damn near killed each other and caused each much physical and emotional pain, fight alongside each other as bros gives me a joyful feeling unlike any other.
What I wanna know is...how come watching Goku and Vegeta fight together does nothing special to me? They've had a rough friendship as well. Yeah, I like Naruto way more than DBZ, but the feeling I get watching the two former-foes pairs shouldn't be that different. Is it because Kishi's story is just that much more deep than Toriyama's?

It does make sense, its competition all of us do it in our daily lives. Heck we compete against each other in school, when looking for a job and even while doing the job.

I ment it was never deep enough. Sasuke and Naruto atleast had some sort of build up. They were more about friendship and bonds. How one relates to one another. Compared to them Vegeta and Goku seem stale and boring.

As a writer, I'm not a fan of DB either. After watching some deep and intellectual like Death Note and Code Geass, I could never ever watch DBZ again.
Disagree about not calling Vegeta Goku's rival though. They definitely are.

Yeah. I agree with you both. The age of the characters at the beginning of their relationship/rivalry must be the biggest factor in how I feel watching the pairs

Lord Sasuke is the Batman to Naruto's Superman. They're equals. Goku was always superior to Vegeta.

because sasuke is always considered to be equal to naruto, whereas vegeta is almost always behind goku.

also, the major villains of naruto are usually defeated by naruto and sasuke working together (teamwork beat obito, madara, kaguya and momokishi) but the closest thing to working together goku and vegeta have done to beat the villain is playing rock paper scissors to see who gets to fight him first. (goku beat vegeta, goku beat frieza, neither beat cell, goku beat buu, goku beat beerus, vegeta almost beat frieza but had the kill stolen by goku)
