So I recently started to watch One Piece and I really like it, but I just really want to get caught up to the current point (For the anime, that is). I plan to read the Manga beginning from where the Anime has reached, once I get there.

I'm on Episode 158, the beginning of the Skypiea Arc

Should I completely skip all the Filler Arcs so I can reach the current point?
Are there any Filler Arcs that are worth watching?
Should I start reading the Manga now?
Movies now or later?

Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to catch up as well I'm on Water 7. Water 7 has a short filler arc that I didn't watch. I can't remember if there is any filler between Skypiea and Water 7, srry.

Personally, I'd start reading the manga after the TS episode (episode 521 is prob. the best ep. in terms of animation). Just keep watching is all I can say. I heard the G8 filler arc is worth watching and movies are later.

I basically skipped Skypia, and thriller bark arc lol
I can understand wanting to skip Skypiea since it starts out a bit slow (gets better later on) but why skip Thriller bark? That arc was comedy gold, plus that badass ending (no spoilers ;) ).

IMO no arcs should be skipped in OP, unless they're filler.

^Here are the filler episodes lol. I used this list when I was catching up to the series 4-3 years ago, but this one above is obviously updated lol

Skipping any parts of the One Piece manga really hurts your knowledge about it. You won't understand some of the abilites, characters, and definitely the plot as well as you should

Isn't the anime based off the Manga, and the only difference is that the anime adds fillers?

The only arc Filler I watched was g8 after Skypiea, it's pretty fun but I neber watched it again when I was rewatching the series
The manga overall is better but it might be easier to just watch the episodes to get caught up
All movies until Strong World and Z are completely filler so you don't have to watch them at all

Based on this guide:

Choose whichever filler you want :) or save them to be watched later.

And to catch up to the current ep, it's gonna be a bit long journey, and i really want you to read manga instead haha it's faster that way. But if you really in a hurry, i suggest you skip all the fillers, movies and special eps need to be put aside for now, and keep on watching each arc. There isn't really an arc you should skip, or else you're gonna be left out with some questions about certain things.

Or about that Skypiea arc, you can skip until the end of the arc, maybe you can start where Luffy fights Enel. Start from there, as they leave Skypiea, you'll get G8 mini arc (filler arc). Skip if you want, but i strongly recommend you to watch it sooner, and go to Water 7 arc. Skip fillers, and get to Thriller Bark. Then Sabaody, then Impel Down, then Marineford, then you have TS. After Fishmen Island is some fillers so skip them till you reach Punk Hazard. Small fillers afterwards (2-3 eps) annnd lastly is Dressrosa.

Don't forget to watch all the eps you've skipped like fillers, including movies and special eps. They're worth watching.

Just skip the filler arcs, my advice.
I would tell you to catch up with the manga (doubt you will) but I understand some people do find it quicker to catch up through episodes due to reading difficulties or the fact manga just isn't for them.

Only watch Film Z, the rest are appalling.
