Help finding an anime

Hello guys,
Can anyone help me, about 10 years ago I was watching an anime on mtv ( in eu ) and I can't remember the name and i cant find it.
It started with the death of the main character where a train hit him, and his head was the only thing left ( it flew by, that's what I clearly remember ) then he and a bunch of other people appeard in a room (they all died) where something or someone was talking to them...then they got out in to this another world where they had the task to kill some monsters or s**t like that, and if they died there they are dead for sure, and if they survive or something they can go back to the real world or something, I can't remember.

Does anyone recognize the anime?

i don't remember the ending, please don't spoil xD i'm very excited to watch it again, as i remember it it was awesome to me, but that was long ago, the same way i watched "x 1999", i taught it was the best anime, then i watched it again and i was just disappointed
