Hi there basers,
i used to catch naruto ever so often on cartoon network and i guess the disjointed story along with naruto's antics were kind of a turn off....
years later when I decided to give it another go, can't remember what prompted it...from episode one I was hooked! I love the way the writers have given the ninja world so many layers and textures.
pretty much love all of the characters but i think that there are some pretty important themes in the cartoon to be developed more.
clearly the adult child relationships are important to magna and the sometimes parasitic leaching of purpose and energy by adults from children is a bit troubling.
next there is an under developed theme of the effect of war on the psyche of the villagers and even the ninja children themselves. ninja kids fight to the death in the exams if necessary....kids....children....and then spend life battling enemies intent on their destruction with no regards for themselves or a peaceful life....
liking the development of the story but am still troubled as to why itachi would kill his clan, it has to be more than the preservation of konoha.....
also i don't believe jiraiya is dead, i think he would have been summoned in the ninja war by now but we will see how that goes....
all in all a great series
