Okay, first things first, I have no idea what Hell is really like, so I’m just trying to liken it to what a watchable anime might havexd Hopefully, it works out:D And I ended up having to change my chapter scheduling, too. This should make the chapters much shorter and keep me from cramming too much information into each one. Enjoy:)

Unjust

“…Ugghh, …huh?”

It’s such an odd feeling. No more than what seemed like seconds ago, my body was rapidly cooling down as death closed in. Now, …everything was so warm, …boiling hot even. My eyelids felt heavy…and my body lacked the energy to lift them open. At this point, though, the only thing on my mind was…

“…How the hell am I still alive? …Or am I?”

In that instant, all the events that had occurred before this moment ran throughout my mind: the light, the gate, …the flames.

“…Flames, …but why would…no…”

My eyes instantly shot open, …though the sight that awaited them caused me to close them again. My hearing suddenly returned, as well, …and the first sounds to enter my ears…were screams, …screams of pure agony. People, a large number of them, …weak, …malnourished, …pitiful, …as they should be, because I now knew exactly where I was, …though I refused to completely accept it.

“…How? …What have I ever done…that you haven’t forgiven me for, Father?”

The sight of that man’s dead body entered my mind at the very thought.

“No…no, that’s not right. I took his life to save another. That would surely be forgiven. And besides, …”

I was forced to scream aloud as my eyes started to water.

“IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!!”

“…But, …what then?”

Tears began rolling down my face. …I couldn’t stop them now. …I was in Hell…for reasons I couldn’t even explain. I tried lifting my head, …but soon found that that was impossible. I began struggling and looked to the masses before me for assistance. Before I could voice my request, though, …I took another long look at these people…and realized that some of them were different, …if not human at all.

“…Demons, …spawns of the Devil.”

Their appearances were similar to what one might expect, …if ever so vaguely. Their skin was not bright red, so much as it was pale, …like raw pork…and just as moist. The perspiration encasing their bodies was colorless and slightly thick, …as if it was there to protect them from the intense heat around us. Resting upon their hairless heads were two small…protrusions, similar to the horns usually depicted on demons. They were nude, in contrast to the people standing around them, who were clothed in what appeared to be the tattered remnants of the garments they died in. Through an involuntary motion, I was forced to gaze further south, quickly looking away, …though I did take note of the fact that their genitalia were…absent. Whether this was because the Devil’s hatred extended even to those born in his domain…or because they were incapable of death and, therefore, had no need for reproductive systems, I’ll likely never know, …though that’s not to say I could care less. Having finished my examination, I quickly remembered a much more important matter that was at stake…and, through yet another uncontrollable impulse, I turned to the masses for an answer.

“Hey! What the hell’s going on!? …Why can’t I-?”

Another noise soon rose above the screams of the people and the laughter of the demons, …if just barely.

“…Footsteps.”

I used whatever space I had to twist my head. …There was another demon standing beside me, looking down at me with an expression filled with both hatred and disgust, …which I quickly returned. He only smirked in response. …He seemed almost more…sophisticated than his counterparts amongst the throngs of condemned souls.

“Seems you’ve finally woken up. …Well then, …”

He placed his hand on a rope hanging near my head. …It was only at this point that I realized what I was lying on, …though I still looked above me to confirm it.

“Is that a…oh no.”

“…welcome to Hell.”

I grinded my teeth together and shut my eyes as a strong pull on the rope caused the blade of the guillotine to begin falling. The pain lasted but a moment, …but that had to be the longest moment of my life. …How ironic. Only moments after I die, …I’m forced to do it once again.

Seconds later, I opened my eyes again. …To my surprise, however, I was no longer trapped in that device. …In truth, I wasn’t sure where I was, though if I had to give it a name, …I suppose I’d call it a bedroom. It was certainly small, most likely around twelve square feet, with a raggedy, old mattress laid out in the corner of the room. Beside it rested a small tub, …though at the time, I highly doubted that it worked. …Numerous chains, all of different lengths, hung down from the high ceiling and the walls were stained with dry blood, though some of it still seemed fresh. In whole, it had the appearance of a dungeon cell, …rather fitting for the Devil’s domain, though I was still surprised that I’d be given living quarters at all. …As these thoughts flew through my mind, …so did the sensation of that guillotine’s blade as it sliced through my neck.

“That probably won’t be the last time I feel such pain.”

I must have spend at least a few hours sitting on that small mattress, wondering why this had happened…and if this was truly my fate.

“This is…this is unjust. It has to be. …After everything I’ve done, …the prayers I’ve made, the praise I’ve given, …the faith I’ve held dear, …why would I still come here? …Was this even God’s intentions?”

Seconds later, I was forced to jump up from the mattress as a rather unexpected sound emerged from the other side of my door. …It seemed that I had a guest, though I was hardly eager to answer their knocking. …After all, as far as I knew, there were only two groups of beings inhabiting Hell…and I wasn’t fond of either one. …Unwilling to truly fall to their level, though, I stood up and opened the door, …but to my surprise, it was not a demon or a villainous human being that was requesting my audience. …In fact, he seemed almost…humane, …at least, …for a condemned man.

Great chap. I kinda feel bad for him. Well he isn't in a place of agony and gnashing of teeth so I guess things aren't so bad. I wonder what happens next...keep me posted!
