All that remains are the moss embedded stones
A pile of dried bones, Known as Hell Town stands
It seems to have absorbed all that occurred, all of whom walked within
The Skeleton of the lost church, yet still jealousy It retains.

When her life faded, the men came
Streaked with coal dust sweating the fear of war
Brick by Brick, and piece by piece
She was manhandled to a place she did not know.

This comely socialite, masqueraded
as a dowdy, virtuous for It was deemed only right
She seems not to have noticed, although her body was reincarnated
Her soul still lingers here, A million miles from time exempt from the progression around her

Breathing air heavy with a history and a life I never saw
nor knew anyone who did yet I can taste It
It's some sort of cloying presence
A pile of rubble hardly even white at all
Nor even a wall, a staggered division between what is now and a constant then

This feeling seeps in, It permeates the pores of my skin
A blissful ignorance, a constant that even in the motion and anatomy of life
She let's nothing but the seasons alter her sacred place
Weather here has no significance, the ground softened by the tears of her captives
Then year after year falls onto a golden carpet, built over sadness
Alas she is not moved by this, nor even the wind at all.

I fear the ground beneath this carpet will open up and swallow me whole.
Imprison me with her twilight existence, maroon me in the loneliest place I know
Still though, I am inexplicably drawn by this fascination
This weird affinity, for behind her derelict face
The wall that's neither white nor even a wall
Beats a black heart for a time that never passed.

This is actually based off a true place around here where I live. It's called Hell Town Ohio. It's said to be one of the most haunted places in Ohio. Some things are widespread murder, Satanic Cults and churches. We have this road called End of the World It's a steep road and It ends at the edge of a cliff, the rest is only available by foot. (It's very cool) The abandoned house is super creepy as well and played a part in some parts of this poem. The actual church I'm talking about has the old members buried on the churches property. It's famous for having upside down crosses on the outside and satanic symbols in the basement. Just going over the bridge gives you the creeps. Just a little backstory for ya.
