Greg Burleson, who said he was a militia member who usually spent his weekends at the border tracking cartel members, said the mosque was a breeding ground for terrorists.
“I want them the **** out of my neighbourhood,” he said. “They can practice Islam in their own country. I don’t want it shoved down my throat in my own country.”
A man who gave his name only as Richard and carried a placard with the slogan “Unite against Islamic terrorists now” said the event was “a wonderful opportunity for people to get out and express themselves”.
He added: “We don’t want Islam to take over the country and that’s what they want to do. They want to take over the world.”

“We’re just exercising our first-amendment [free speech] rights. We’re all about peace and love,” said the organizer of the rally, former US marine Jon Ritzheimer, a pistol on his hip.He produced sheets of paper from his pocket which he said were passages from the Koran proving that Islam promotes violence.
“We’re educating people,” he said. He gestured at the mosque. “Take away their 501c [tax-exempt status],” he said. “Let Donald Trump build something beautiful.”
The gates of the mosque were shut. There was no point trying to engage or reason with “bigots”, said Usama Shami, the president of the Islamic Community Center.

This shit is too funny. These people are idiots. Be mad at a religion for allegedly trying to force it's way down your throat and being overly violent. How do they fix it? Show up to protest with assault rifles and claim to be about peace and love.

This is funny and embarrassing since I live in AZ. Knowing the state, it isn't too surprising to hear such things.

It's not the religion. It's the interpretation of the people. How the people interpret "peace" is wrong in the eyes of many, but right to them.

It's the same issue involved with all religions. Islam is meant to be peaceful, as is other religions. Crusades were basically a flawed interpretation of a group of Christians who thought it was necessary to use force to create peace.

And anyways, as a citizen, the guy was just using his second amendment right. He can hold a gun. It's not like he was pointing the gun at the Anti-Islam Protestors

I agree it's completely their right to do this. Doesn't change how idiotic and ironic it is.

Well to be clear, it was just a single guy reported to hold a gun right?

Cause if it was, then it was probably because he wanted to protect himself. Islam is about peace, but that doesn't mean that if people start shooting at them, they would let it happen. In that case, they have a right and are even instructed to fight back and protect themselves (Keyword here).

Considering the several cases of innocent people in Mosques being attacked, I see nothing wrong with one guy holding a gun ON HIS HIP in the event that dangerous people start attacking the event.

About a third of the crowd was armed. A few of the counter protesters were also armed as well(Doesn't say with what).

In that case, I still would refer to my edited post above.

If the counter protestors were also armed, then it can be assumed the main crowd were under fear of getting attacked. They weren't reported to actually holding their guns and being armed at the ready. They had the weapons on them, but it's not like they had their fingers on the triggers.

It seems like this report is still being taken out of context, or not enough questions and concerns from both sides are being made clear.

What terrorism? They didn't terrorize anyone o-o

If your goal is to make people fear to be what they are that is terrorism the kkk as an example was a terror group that attacked blacks and northern Americans after the civil war and wanted to terrorise anyone not a white southerner out of the south ether alive or in a coffin

Were they even shoving it down their throats? Didn't it go like the counter protestors came in just like that.

That's like saying Gay marriage of my neighbors two houses down threatens my marriage inside my own house, because their "presence" of Gayness is threatening it.

People only understand stereotypes. We need to get educated. We need to understand people and find a consensus on how things should be interpreted.

Ok yeah i would have sent in the national guard to capture or kill that is an act of terrorism

Again, what terrorism?

This is a true statement.

However, Islam's goal isn't to make people fear. o-o They weren't doing that.

Terrorism: the use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims.

so you tell me if this can be called terrorism

They weren't pointing their guns out. If a gun placed on a hip is considered intimidation, then forgive me, because I was going on the grounds that it isn't. I just see it as them using their second amendment rights.

But what violence was there? There wasn't any at all. o-o This article doesn't state anything of the sort
