So if someone who isn't covered for healthcare is dying on the street, do we just let them die?

I have wondered about this. In America if you dont have insurance and have an accident will they just let you die?

It's a service. You never have a right to another person's service.

All Humans need to eat to live, but we don't have a right to eat steak every night because Jay Z can afford to.
I hope it doesn't take a person close to you dying from not affording healthcare for you to wake up.

Most definitely not. Atleast in the most acute cases. And even if that were to be the case, in acute situations, paramedics just don't have the time to check if someone is eligible for their services. But the baseline is that even in a f-cked up country like U.S I doubt something like what you are saying could be possible because it's just morally so wrong.

EDIT: this is what I found about the issue:

"You can not be denied medical treatment during an emergency. EMS has to treat and transport you and the emergency room can not turn you away- even if it ends up not being very serious of a medical issue. They bill you for the expenses incurred later.

If you want to seek treatment at a regular doctor or an urgent care clinic, payment is due at the time of service. If you can't pay the non-emergency doctor then, they will generally not even see you. You get turned away at the admission desk."

Dunno if it's right, but it sounds logical.

Nobody says they have the right to eat a steak every night, just food for sustenance. Just as nobody said they had the right to private healthcare, just an adequate service so that they can get an equal shot at a healthy, long life.

Your "comparison" fails in that the original statement is based on the fact that people want access to "normal" level healthcare where your food statement compares "normal" level to "premium" level, as if people are demanding premium healthcare as some kind of right.

But they aren't. so you don't have a point.

One fine day you'll realise that making the best of the world means give and take. Or at least, the optimist in me hopes.

They don't let you die but they make you wish they had.

Regardless of your financial situation or if you want the treatment or not, They will try to save your life and slam you with a massive bill after you recover.

Listen to bernie sanders. everyone should get the same healthcare no matter how much they make. That equals steak. IF you can afford better healthcare you should be allowed to buy it

"Basic right of living equals to eating luxury food every night."

Like now what, people can not drive because roads are result of taxpaying system? Build your own roads if you want to go to the work lol. Or get homeschooled or get to build your own school, maybe with families you know. No need for public parks, get a large garden if you have money. Maintainance and distribution of these are services afterall =D

Those are all things the people share besides the school.

Communities should ban together to pay for things they all share. They shouldn't however be forced to pay for another persons health. Ban together and build a great hospital, then invest in some insurance or get an employer too and you too can use it

Too all the morons claiming the poor will just go die, you've obviously never heard of medicaid and medicare. 40% of my check goes to help bums(and a few truly unfortunate such as those with disabilities)

Medicaid nor medicare covers everyone.

About 40,000 people die every year because of lack of health insurance, so I have no idea what the you're talking about.

Wow really? A whole 40,000?in a country of close to 400 million.

Medicaid and medicare shouldn't cover everyone. People should get some skills and get a job and get insurance. The old should get medicare, the really disabled should get medicaid. The "poor" get medicaid though their poor decision making should let Darwinism sort them out
