IMO

The first battle at Final Valley btwn Naruto and Sasuke. Sasuke said that if he made a scratch on his forehead then he will not leave, during the moment he forgot what sasuke said and end up hospitalizing Naruto but Naruto did managed to scratch....

Thus, at that moment when he looked at that headband he would have thought that if he had have hit by Rasengan then he would have lost. And that got into his heart that he is still not stronger than Naruto. Thus imo he wants to confirm this once in for all.

Thus, i think sasuke will win this fight and then the thing he was holding in his heart that has made his heart heavy will be at ease.

And then he will return to village with Naruto (injured) and dissaper...
