So I was wondering about this thing, but from what we have garnered recently and what we have seen, I came to the conclusion that Hawk eyes is perhaps the epitome of COO.

Why I say that?
Cause recently we saw Usopp's development of COO and it was pretty much like a sniper rifle's scope.
Also we have seen Mihawk using it, where he says "You are still within my range" to Luffy before attacking.

So my question is if "Hawk eye" is the epitome of COO?

And if Zoro is training his left eye to develop that kind of awareness or something?
And does Mihawk only excels in COO?, and perhaps that is the reason Jozu was able to deflect his attack.

I always felt as though Hawk Eyes literally just has exceptional eyes that allows him to track faster, scope further, and otherwise visually see better than others. I mean, sometimes, it looks like his eyes are literally enhancing his own field of vision like they are zooming in like a camera lens.

It could very well be CoO though

It's obvious that Mihawk excels more in CoA than CoO, especially after his conversation with Zoro.

Hawk eye being the epitome of CoO is plausible.

When he said still within my range" he meant the area his sword attacks can cover. It would make sense as he was able to split ice formations and reach the Moby with his energy slashes (w/e).

But it is very possible (if not obvious) that his nickname "Hawk Eye" refers to his incredible eyesight skills. He can follow Luffy in G2 as shown in the War with relative ease. Whether this is a naturally trained ability of his, or result of an immense control over COO however is the real question. And I do believe that is the case, I would prefer if it was a natural ability of his though, would make him more impressive.

Armament seems to be his speciality more than his observation if we're going by his words against Zoro, but i'd say his observation is probably still top level regardless

It could explain this

The way he delicately deviated the bullets trajectory(a feat unmatched even now) could maybe be a observation feat

You can determine the level of strength of your opponent without fighting him through COO(like Rayleigh), something Mihawk also explained to Zoro back then

Could also explain how he went to the top with zero scars on his body

I disagree that he is the strongest armament haki user. If so that slash meant for whitebeard should have cut Jozu.

Even Luffy did this again Fujitora.

Hmm Nice addition.

How do you know he put haki in that kilometer range slash(if it's even possible)?

Even Luffy did this again Fujitora.
I'm just mentioning the fact he used that early on. Never said no one could pull it off

It could mean that he is more used to using his CoA in a defensive manner to protect his sword.

I think that the name Hawk Eyes alludes more to vision than power, though he definitely has both. It would make more sense that Shanks excels in CoA, and Mihawk in CoO. Plus the comments he always makes about seeing things adds to it.

I think it's both but mainly offensive, either way he specializes in CoA.

I don't think that is evidence enough to declare he excels at CoA than CoO. Firstly because Mihawk is a veteran of the new world, so it's pretty clear he knows (has information about) all 3 forms of Haki. Secondly as far as we know two forms of haki can be trained and mastered. Thirdly the panel you provided only indicates that Mihawk uses armament on his sword, due to which they don't break or get dented (So it's pretty basic for a swordsman of his calibre to pass on that knowledge to zoro). It does not mean he is a stronger CoA user.
Actually we cannot be sure about anything. But his comments and actions in the past have indicated that his eyes are really good at calculating distances and projectiles and their trajectory. While he has shown no CoA feat so far, except for the fact that he uses it to protect his blade.
