Why sasuke or madara never used genjutsu against naruto and hashirama respectively during there vote fights.

Because t'was ineffective against Naruto due to kyuubi, unless you mean in part 1 because Sasuke didn't know any genjutsu then i think. Idk about Madz vs Hashi, maybe because Sage mode or sumthin could release genjutsu at the same pace of a jin?

If Madara had to pull Ei close to him just to perform a simple Sharingan genjutsu, then he has no chance to use against those equal or superior to him. Distractions and openings are basically needed for such things.

Naruto had Kurama so there was that.

Hashi? Not sure. UzumakiWade might be right though. Maybe due to Nature chakra flowing through the body it might block the effect genjutsu has on disrupting the chakra in whatever area it (genjutsu) is suppose to effect (the mind, the senses, etc)

Hashi was probably very good with dispelling genjutsu, because of his chakra control
