Good question, but it came from ice melting. Ice came from God. Just think before you post, I'm 12 and I thought about this.

:sy: You are old enough and still cannot reason properly....

Where did water come from? Sure I have wondered about that. The initial Earth was very hot; and cooled down with time(not relating to this matter much). It developed an atmosphere, the first one due to the volcanic eruptions. Gases started forming and water was made due to a chemical reaction? Or just the comet theory. These are the ones I think are most probable.

Its H2O in liquid form. H2O formed through the chemistry of our atmosphere, the liquid state because of our temperature, its not that hard, use your basic chemistry to figure it out.

It depends if you're atheist or theist. If theistic, then the answer is already there. If atheistic then you're going to have to run around and spend an exponential amount of time coming up with one theory after another and watch as holes are blown through each one. I value my time, so I stick with the easy explanation. ;)

There are several theories about where water came from. One of them is that during the early days of our planet asteroids and comets who bombarded the Earth brought water with them. The biggest issue what that theory was that even taken into consideration the largest amount of numbers, there still wouldn't be enough water to explain it.

The most acceptable theory at this point is volcanoes. When the Earth was still young, it was covered by countless of volcanoes who kept on spitting out stuff continuously. This created clouds who then caused non-stop raining and providing the Earth with water. I have forgotten all the specific chemical stuff about how it was as I learned about it when I was in my last year in high school, but you get the idea. At this point that's still the most believable and most accepted theory as why there is water on Earth.

Some of the most likely contributory factors to the origin of the Earth's oceans are as follows:

The cooling of the primordial Earth to the point where the outgassed volatile components were held in an atmosphere of sufficient pressure for the stabilization and retention of liquid water.

Comets, trans-Neptunian objects or water-rich meteorites (protoplanets) from the outer reaches of the main asteroid belt colliding with the Earth may have brought water to the world's oceans. Measurements of the ratio of the hydrogen isotopes deuterium and protium point to asteroids, since similar percentage impurities in carbon-rich chondrites were found in oceanic water, whereas previous measurement of the isotopes' concentrations in comets and trans-Neptunian objects correspond only slightly to water on the earth.

Biochemically through mineralization and photosynthesis.

Gradual leakage of water stored in hydrous minerals of the Earth's rocks.

Photolysis: radiation can break down chemical bonds on the surface.

Hydrogen(H) and Oxygen(O) are gases that Naturally exist in space in an abundance...So theoretically speaking there is an abundance of water in space, however Hydrogen and Oxygen may have combined to create water here on Earth; I do not know, what i do know is that it isn't something that is too much of mystery or impossible; A combination of H molecules and O molecules; Can happen, Will Happen, and have been happening...
