When the witch Dr. Kureha mentions Gold Roger, she pronounces it Gol D Roger.

The main character, Monkey D luffy, has a D in his name.

Are there some kind of connection there or am i being paraniod? xd

Watch more episodes, and you'll come to know that Ace,Dragon,Garp,Teach,Saulo,Luffy,Roger all have a "D" in their name.

They need not be related to each other in order to share the initial "D".

yeah there is a connection, many important characters have D in their name. not much has been revealed about it though, but it's important.
