I think
1) if he has a power it must be great one and may want very large chakra and might result in death. that's why kakashi never used that if had a power.
2) it might be homage to his father. he weard that so that he would be constantly reminded of shinobi rules. because breaking rules resulted indirectly to death of his father.
3) I don't think he is hiding ugly face or deformity.

so my verdict is he wears that as homage to his father makes more likely.

I don't think we will ever get to see behind the mask. If the reason he wore the mask was to hide the fact that he looked like his father, which is the most logical explanation, it would also have made sense for him to abandon the mask after making peace with his father.

I was re-reading some of the chapters in the war , In chapter 523 - 524, when kakashi was fighting against the edo 7 swordsmen of the mist, kakashi was really pissed off about the unforgivable use of edo tensei, then he claim himself as the copy ninja who copied a thousand jutsus and i remember in others website it was translated that " Kakashi will go on a rampage "

Then I come to think that what if kakashi show of his mask that reveals a godlike power created by his dad when he was still a baby? And the mask was a barrier that bind his chakra release..... hahaha.

It some what reminds me of kenpanchi of bleach...

well, maybe i'm just curious with his mask thats why im imagining things
