Intro
Hashi had been called God of the Shinobi, usually a reference to his Godly power. But a great leader must also have insight to make the right choices. In this respect, Hashi is also Godly with his wisdom. This is something his brother Tobirama does not have, and this is shown through his failure to let go of his hatred of the Uchihas (more on that later).
Set up
The main focus of this theory is based on chapter 624. Specifically:
These are the words I focus on:
Hashi: If we kill you, the head, the young Uchiha that hold you dear will go on a rampage.
Madara: There’s no one in the Uchiha who still feels like that anymore
Hashi: No, I’m sure there are
These words from Hashi show his wisdom and insight into the situation, and give us a lot of information.
My Analysis of Hashi’s words
Point 1: Hashi’s insight in the present
Hashi realizes and knows that many young Uchiha respect and admire Madara. Not even Madara knows this. How can Hashi be so sure? Especially since so many Uchiha have defected to join the Senju. Why would the young Uchiha think differently than the one fighting? The reason lies in the fact that Madara like Hashi are clan leaders. And they have already applied their principles from childhood to their clans. The principle I refer to is: Children not fighting in battles.
This is their conversation from childhood:
I believe Madara like Hashi, have not allowed children to fight in battles. The young Uchiha Hashi refers to, are the ones who do not know battle. Because of this, they do not know the experiences Hashi and Madara had as children. They do not share the same view of battle as the Uchiha who have tired of it and defected. The young Uchiha look at Madara as great and powerful; and think of him as their idol.
Hashi knows this, and this is one of the reasons he gives for refusing to kill Madara. The other main reason is because Madara is his childhood friend. This is an example of Hashi’s insight in reading the situation.
On the flip side, notice how Tobirama only wants to kill Madara. There is no consideration on the impact it might have afterwards.
Point 2: Hashi’s Insight to the future
Connected to point 1, is the fact that Hashi realizes that killing Madara will lead to future battles with the Uchiha. Haishi recognizes the cycle of Hatred that must be stopped and wants to look for a peaceful means to end the rivalry between Uchiha and Senju. Hashi knows ending the rivalry by killing Madara will lead the young Uchiha to one day rebel against the Senju. Think back to Pain’s conversation with Naruto during his invasion of Konoha.
So we see Hashi’s insight to see how current events will impact the future. But now I wish to focus on Tobirama, who will one day become the 2nd Hokage. He never lets go of his hatred and mistrust of the Uchiha. This is shown even when revived through Edo Tensei. Under his leadership as Hokage, I’m sure the Uchiha recognized Tobirama’s hatred for them. The cycle of hatred starts again/continues because of Tobirama and leads to the rebellion that Hashi was trying to prevent in the first place.
Side Theory
Based on 2 points above and the history of the Konoha, I believe the young Uchiha that Haishi is referring to, will grow up to be the same Uchihas who rebelled when the third was Hokage.
In other words, these young Uchiha that Hashi speaks of, are Fugaku’s (Itachi & Sasuke’s Dad) generation.
