Do we know what type of sage Hashirama is? I'm hoping to learn more about his sage mode as he battles Madara. Is it frog?

I doubt it's a frog because if it was:
- only the orange pigment in the eyes area
- his pupil would be like of a toad

I think it's slug because the slugs come from the shikotsu forest and that's the only other place besides the ryuchida cave and myobokuzan
His markings do kind of look like four antennas

Lol I know you're kidding but you may be on to something. Maybe he is a nature sage. Unlike Naruto who accesses nature energy through frog sage techs Hashirama could access it through his life nature chakra/wood style

Its solar sage mode. The markings on his forehead and eyes as well as name, senpou means shining, all relate to symbolism of the sun. Plus trees need sunlight to survive. He's powered by the sun and gathers it and stores it like natural energy.
