[Discussion] Hashirama's Sage mode

I noticed that Hashirama's sage mode has a rinnegan pattern on his forehead, almost like a third eye. This is the highest level of sage mode hitherto.

We know Naruto once upon a time combined both sage mode with the Kyuubi cloak, which produced that "+" pupils. This was when he had defeated the Pain dolls and confronted Nagato.

Do you think Naruto would improve upon his sage arts and train in the melding of cloaks? possibly attaining or surpassing Hashirama's sage mode? Because Sasuke would presumably possess rinnegan/perfect susanoo/etc, Naruto would need another power-up for their big clash..

So you are implying that Hashirama is in a different sage category.. possible, I guess.


edit: Some are claiming he is the sage of the wood element. I don't think this to be true.
When Naruto first appeared with sage mode, he used "sage arts - oodoma rasengan". Rasengan was already his technique, but with the help of sage mode he increased it's damage.

Same could be said with Hashirama. He is using sage mode to strengthen his wood element, and not a sage of the wood element.

I dont know what his sage mode is but it's clearly different from toad and dragon(snake) sage modes. Perhaps it is some buddhist concept of the third eye (pineal gland) in which additional perception & enlightenment is attained; it would explain his Avalokiteśvara style summon ability... perhaps his sage mode is different or more pure than an animal sage mode.

Slug sage mode. He is tsunades grandfather, whom he gave his chakra to. Both Tsunade and Hashi's sage mode regenerate wounds.

I doubt it has anything to do with the Rinnegan, just sage markings that we're not familiar with at this point i.e. supposed tree/slug sage. I can't see the Senju's possessing anything dojutsu related (except for Nagato), it doesn't really fit with their style.
I think what we're seeing with the markings is the epitome of the SOTSP's body = Senjutsu, the equivalent of the EMS which is the Uchiha's epitome of the SOTSP's chakra/spirit = Dojutsu... or something like that. I dunno.

I think it could be an advanced version of what Tsunade does because when she used her byakugou Madara did basically say hashirama could do something similar but better

Admittedly, slug sage would be logical. Although, the release Tsunade performed was never stated as being her slug sage mode. Then again, that doesn't mean it wasn't either.

Madara did say it is a technique similar to Hashirama's, just on a lower scale.
