I believe that Hashirama wants to give the chance to sasuke to kill the person responsible for the uchiha's massacre, Madara Uchiha. In order to do that, he would give some of his power so Sasuke can evolve the rinnegan and be at least on par with Madara.

No. Madara was not responsible for the Uchiha Massacre. Danzo and Sasuke's father are responsible for the Uchiha murder. Danzo for ordering it and Sasuke's father as the head forcing the Leaf's gov't to make that choice.

indirectly yes. He made the uchiha not trusted enough in the village so tobirama feared the uchiha they would rebel. Tobirama then made them the police and it made them even more insecure. The third hokage, Hiruzen told danzo to handle the dirty job which is root. (anbu black ops ) Danzo then told itachi to exterminate the clan fearing that they would rebel. So yes he is kind of responsible for the uchiha massacre.

Lol Hashirama is too kind hearted, he wouldn't want Sasuke to do something like that because of revenge. Plus Sasuke even with rinnegan still doesn't stand a chance against Madara on one vs one.

Sasuke can be almost naruto's level with the rinnegan so he might actually have a chance.
