What if Hashirama knew how to use the 8 inner gates and used the gate of death to stop something huge(not mentioned in the manga yet because probably few know about it) and Zetsu recorded the usage of the 8 inner gates and showed it to Madara. Perhaps, but highly unlikely

8 Gates is something generally known in the Shinobi world. Everyone who is aware of Chakra points would have an idea of 8 Gates. Madara can stab Chakra points via black rod. No one told him. If Hashirama knows how to unlock 8 Gates, he would have used it in VOTE or against Edo Madara.
