Bit short but I hope its still enjoyable.

The battlefield sunk into silence as Hashirama and the Paths stared at each other, their eyes alive with murder. In a strange blaze of purple flames, the menacing King of Hell appeared beside the Naraka path, and the Animal path summoned the corpse of the Preta path which Hashirama had slain earlier. The King of Hell opened its great mouth, an arm shaped tongue grabbed the deceased Preta Path and dragged him into the mouth of the King of Hell, and the jaws closed immediately. Hashirama watched with mixed feelings of wonder, confusion and disgust as the massive flame-surrounded head began to chew the corpse. In a few moments, the mouth was once again agape and a rejuvenated Preta Path emerged from the King of Hell, every trace of damage even to his clothes completely repaired.

“What a strange power.” mused Hashirama as he observed the renewed Preta path join rank with the others, and they all glowered threateningly at the Senju leader in unison, their cold rippled grey eyes unblinking. “Pain, it seems you have some interesting abilities, to think you could even raise your dead.”

“I am a god who is above death.” responded the Deva Path flatly. “I have elevated above-“

“Don’t you get tired of spewing that crap?” interrupted Hashirama. “ All I have to do is kill the one in the back who summoned that flaming thing and you would cease to be able to revive yourselves, correct?”

The Deva path shuffled nervously for a split second, Hashirama didn’t fail to notice.

“I’ve already figured out that you each have a single ability,” boasted Hashirama, “the fat one absorbs Ninjutsu, the man with long hair summons animals and you, the younger one with spiky orange hair, are able to repel anything you wish with an unseen force. The older one with spiky orange hair revives the rest if they are killed. Whatever the abilities of the other two; the one with extremely long hair and the bald one with that strange grin, they must not be very potent as you have not put them to use. Most likely short to mid range techniques which you are sure my Mokuton can counter. The only real danger here Mr. god, is if there are more of you.”

“Exactly, there could be hundreds of us just waiting to be unleashed.”

“Hmmm…you’re bluffing.” retorted Hashirama. “There are only six of you. If there were more, you would have summoned them already instead of reviving the dead, and I sensed a spike in your chakra when you said there could be hundreds, it means you are lying. Thank you for just confirming that for me; now I know for a fact that defeating the six of you is defeating Pain. ”

“You speak like it would be easy to defeat us.” responded the Deva Path. “We have the advantage right now. The Mokuton is powerful indeed, but we are already beyond its reach. Just like we are already beyond your human ability, having ascended to godhood.”

Hashirama’s arms slowly lifted from his sides and united into a hand seal, and he grinned excitedly at Pain. “Guess I have to come up there then!” Instantly, the earth exploded into a sea of Mokuton, massive branches mounting atop one another, reaching for the sky, encompassing the entire battlefield, Hashirama standing atop the highest of them, his hands still joined as he pumped more chakra into his ominous technique and stared intently at Pain, ascending towards the six in a wave of Mokuton.

The earth continued to rumble as Hashirama unleashed the might of his kekkei genkai, the great Senju riding a giant Mokuton towards his enemies. The Deva Path was completely unfazed by all that Hashirama had wrought. With an indifferent expression on his lean face, his ringed eyes dull and listless, he lifted his hands towards Hashirama’s forest, Akatsuki robe billowing about him. “Shinra Tensei” he roared, and the forest was once again devastated in a single moment.

As the decimated Mokuton fell to the earth, Hashirama budded from one of them, having entered inside it in order to take shelter from the Shinra Tensei. He jumped onto another piece of falling debris and formed a hand seal. Immediately, out of his own body, Mokuton tendrils sprouted and formed a perfect clone of him. One Hashirama grabbed the other, then with strength multiplied by Sage Mode, flung him up towards the giant multi headed dog which had borne the Six Paths to the sky.

Rinnegan eyes swelled in shock as Hashirama flew up to them. The Senju had already formed a hand seal, calling forth wood branches from his own body which ensnared the giant dog, and crushed its small wings. The mongrel gave a great yelp and began to lose altitude and Hashirama grinned victoriously.

Suddenly, as it fell, the beast divided into a six large single headed dogs, thus breaking the hold of Hashirama’s Mokuton. The Six paths separated, each having bounded towards one of the newly formed dogs. These six canines flapped their wings frantically and quickly took to the skies, carrying the Paths above Hashirama’s reach once again as the Senju leader cursed bitterly.

Hashirama, not being one to give up, leapt after one of the dogs. But before he could even come close to any of them, while he was still in mid air, desperately reaching for his opportunity to prevail in the battle, the Deva path raised a hand in his direction. “Shinra Tensei!“

Hashirama was sent flying in that instant and the Senju shot towards the ground. However, as he plunged earthwards, his body began to transform, the color of his outline fading to a dull brown, and his features becoming increasingly rigid and stiff as he collapsed to the earth. By the time ‘Hashirama’ had fallen to the ground, it was already glaringly obvious that he was simply a wood clone. “The clone played its part well.” intoned Hashirama as he revealed himself, springing out from one of the shattered Mokuton which was destroyed earlier by Pain. “I have an idea about his weakness.”
