The next one after this is the last chapter of this battle and it'll be fierce(and a bit longer)! Read and enjoy Hashi and Pain duking it out. Comments will be appreciated(and rewarded *wink*)
Both beasts lunged at the Senju immediately, a fierce and savage look in their peculiar eyes. “Senpo: Myojinmon!” cried Hashirama and immediately both summons were restrained by their necks between the pillars of giant torrii gates. The Human and Preta charged at Hashirama, leaping over the subdued monsters, each armed with a black stake and the other Paths watching keenly to supplement their eyesight. Hashirama leaped backwards a great distance such that he was no longer in the boundaries of the earlier crabs’s slippery pool. The two attacking paths both also crossed the entire distance of the small pond and bounded towards Hashirama without hesitation.
The tide was in the favour of the Pains. Hashirama would conjure up destructive vines and branches only for them to be negated by the Preta path and his weapons and blows were either dodged or blocked. The two Rinnegan puppets confronted Hashirama with flawless teamwork; their attacks were in perfect synchrony and they expertly covered each other’s openings, creating an absolute defense complemented by a dangerous offense. Neither Mokuton, ninja weapons of varying sizes nor senjutsu enhanced taijutsu could get the better of them.
It wasn’t long before the two Paths had managed to cripple Hashirama with another stake, this time piercing his thigh. The Human path moved in for the kill, utilizing no weapon of any sort but merely placing his palm on Hashirama’s forehead. “Know Pain, Senju Hahsirama!” he removed his hand from the Senju;s head, pulling out something ethereal and transparent from his body. The unreal construct bore some semblance to the man from which it was ripped, for it was his soul, the unseen core of Hashirama’s existence.
As it was removed, the eyes of the First Hokage rolled to the back of his head, he drew one final breath and fell dead before the two Paths of Pain. Watching from a small distance away were the other Paths, the Deva’s pierced face bearing a triumphant grin. Silence fell on the battlefield which seemed to linger on suspiciously. Something was wrong, if the First Hokage was dead, why was the barrier around the Paths still in place, the clones maintaining it still alive?
Pain was still pondering upon this when, out of the Mokuton which was used to dismember the giant crab, Hashirama sprang forth and lunged for the Animal Path, slaying him instantly with a quick kunai to the heart, the sudden nature of the attack leaving no room to react. The Human and Preta path realized that Hashirama had fooled them into killing a clone just as all the animal summons on the battlefield began to disappear; the restrained dogs, the buffalo and the rhino. The Animal Path groaned and collapsed lifeless to the ground, but Hashirama, his battered armor rattling about him, had already abandoned the dead Pain and bounded towards the Deva Path who was alone and without his gravitational powers.
Pain had seen Hashirama’s great strength and the potency of his ninjutsu, genjutsu and genjutsu, the man’s skills definitely warranted the title of God of Shinobi. This was why the leader of Akatsuki wasted no time trying the strength of a weakened Deva against a ninja of such caliber. To combat Hashirama, Pain decided to unleash his most powerful summoning. Before the First Hokage was within striking distance, Deva’s palm was already to the ground. “Kuchiyose: Gedo Mazo!”
The earth erupted into a giant rock formation which ascended directly beneath the Deva path. Hashirama leapt backwards; it was not prudent to approach carelessly when a new player appears suddenly on the battlefield. The Senju literally took a step back to examine what Pain had invoked. He observed that this was not merely a large stone, but one shaped like a human and of immense size: the humanoid was so tall that its head and torso reached the clouds.
There was a rocky bandage where its eyes should have been and its two hands, both lifted to its chest, were bound by stone handcuff at the wrists. Even more shocking were the pointed rocks that grew out of its back, rising a bit higher than its head. Hashirama sensed a dangerous and evil chakra of immense quantity nesting within it and was unnerved.
The Preta and Human paths leapt over Hashirama and began to scale the monster, joining the Deva Path on its head while Hashirama watched on in wonder. “That’s a big one!” exclaimed the Senju.
“I just need to buy time,” thought Pain, “until Deva’s powers return, then I can finish this with that jutsu. However, it is dangerous using the Gedo Mazo. Damn you, Hashirama! I’ll kill you if it’s the last thing I do!”
