The manga confirm that madara awoke his rinnegan shortly before he died. I believe that the rinnegan is the greatest achievement of madara(rinnegan is the strongest dotjutsu). Saying madara>nagato is a silly idea, sorry to say. Moreover nagato had perfected the use of the rinnegan and learn all element confirm by jman though he didn't use it in any of his fight but in this vs situation we have to assume that he will use it all. Hashirama was considered the strongest shinobi ALIVE during the founding days of Konoha. He could heal himself without even forming seals, && he also had the mokuton. Now I respect Nagato && his power... He's the only villain I know of that actually has meaning && justice behind his destruction. It would be one hell of a fight, but Nagato would fall.

The core cannot be destroyed by trees. Also, Hashirama wouldn't have a clue what was going on until it started pulling him up. By then it would take all of his efforts to save himself let alone destroy the core.

So when CB is used it pulls everything to its core it will pull trees up to it along with rocks and such. so if it pulls Hashirama up there he can grow trees with nothing but his chakra so he can grow trees to the core and destroy the core with mokuton or suck the chakra out of it

What? He cannot suck chakra out of the core with trees. How do you even know that the core is made of chakra? Pfffffffffffffffffffff
