Both start on the ground - 40 meters distance and manga knowledge.

Next: Hashirama starts on top of Shinsuusenju

Who wins in each round ?

Gai definitely wins both even though Hashirama is the superior shinobi in general.

Gai could potentially one shot in both scenarios. That hole he put madara in, destroys anything hashirama throws in his way.

Hashirama heals better than Tsunade, as if this is a OHKO. But that said, Hashirama doesn't quite have the level of defence that JJ Madara has, it definitely won't be a 'stall and try outlast him' situation meaning Hashi is in very real danger.

Probably give it to Guy in both scenarios but it's close and Hashirama could still put him to sleep if he caught him unawares/injured. A couple of Hashi's jutsu can ensnare him but it's no clear victory when Guy he CAN topple and spar with the Buddha IMHO. It'd be a time-eating distraction rather than Hashi's trump card.

Don't see how Guy wins round 2. With Chojo Kebutsu in play.
Enlighten me guys.

Chojo Kebutsu isn't fast enough to catch guy who can fly. Jin madara was finding it hard to keep up with his speed. Hashirama is tiers below jin madara who had rinnegan and sharingan plus senjutsu to augment his reflexes. Hashirama won't even know what happened to him if gai fights upto his potential. On top of his speed gai has raw power too. He sent madara down a deep hole, if you can go and reread that fight, you will see how deep madara was. Budha won't save hashirama from that attack as it will be focussed on him directly. and will destroy anything in its way. Only way hashirama can win is if he can merge with earth like zetsu, then he can stay hidden till gai dies.

What made you change your mind? IMO Hashirama wins with SS on the field.

Night Gai's penetrative power would put a hole in SS from almost wherever it gets hit and Hashirama isn't fast enough to take any kind of counter or evasive measures. So that right to where Hashirama resides it's GG.

Hashirama has no defensive measures to lighten the blows from evening elephant or night guy. One straight on hit from either and it's over.

Hashirama loses both sets, but the second one a little less bad.

eeeeh, i wouldn't be so sure about that. Yagai may be that concentrated that it devirginates SS (considering PS's blades were cutting its hands in the clash, while they don't to Mokujin. It may be less durable pound for pound), but i can see Hashi sensing his imminent ass whooping like Madara did, since it takes time for Gai to set Yagai, and hiding in SS with Mayfly (can he do that?). That assuming Gai goes down on his ass since the start, if he uses Sekizo i think Hashi'd counter and win either with Chojo or FTW if he decides to camp inside SS.

Madara could barely act even with Night Guy's short charge time. That directly to the general area Hashirama resides and it's a wrap. He can't and won't be able to burrow deep enough before Gai hits him.

Literally no reason Gai would have to even attempt Evening Elephant against SS considering multiple hits to Madara's body didn't do anything game ending or game changing.

If only 8th Gate weren't a last resort effort, Gai reigns all tiers.
As much as Hashirama owns the God of SHinobi tag, he loses to 8th Gate Gai in absolute and extreme cases.
JJ Madara>Hashirama and we all know how JJM acknowledged Gai.
