Because back when Tobi confronted Naruto and talked about seeing Hahsirama inside of him at that time Hashirama was brown and also when he talked to Sasuke in Ep 142!

I just realized this.. that Hashirama reps india, or atleast is a homage to the indian culture.

On topic: Off course the Buddhism originated in India so many symbols and words used in Buddhist scriptures locally were carried to other countries but Hashirama representing India -that's really far fetched.
