Senju Hashirama was difinately NERFED!..
Hashirama was NERF beyond belief!
There appears to be 3 votes that take place between these two power houses Madara & Hashirama.. (Probably more but the manga/anime only shows us 3 i think) So we'll go with them..
First I want to start with Madara/Izuna.. We'll call this Vote 1..
Izuna is defeated by Tobirama in this vote... (We all know Madara gains eternal light from this incident).
That's a "Power up" for Madara!.. At this point while Madara has eternal light, Hashiram has Mokuton.. ( Mind you,.. Mokuton is not apart of his SM)
Vote 2 Hashirama is able to match Madara with just Mokuton an Mokujin golem while Madara has a PS with eternal light.. (Hashirama has no SM in Vote 2 only Mokuton)
After the second lost to Hashirama, Madara decides to give in with his clan an submit to the Senju.
(Konohagakure is born)
In this time frame, Madara decides to leave the village.. (Madara causes problems for Konoha in his rouge days) the incident with Onoki/Muu shows us this..
While Madara is rogue, Hashirama learns SM along with healing techs from his Uzumaki counterpart/relatives.. While Hashirama is learnig SM an healing.. Madara is in search for the 9tail/Kurama an binds him when he does find him..
My assumptions is!..
(Hashirama with his sealing techs has maybe 5 to 6 tailed beast or more in his possession before he an Madz engage each other again in the final Vote 3 because we know Hashirama gave the tailed beast out like candy once Mads is defeated. The time frame adds up to where Hashirama had a few tailed beast before Madara's defeat because Hashi didn't live much longer afterwards)

Madara challenges Hashirama with a PS an 9tailes bijuu.. Hashirama now has SM on-top of Mokuton an healing... This battle is where it's all decided.. (Mind you Hashirama had a scroll on his back that probably was the seals of the tailed beast or it could've just been his SM scroll.. Who knows) But for arguments sake, let say it's the sealed Bijuu scroll.. (We have no profs of what the scroll actually is/was)
Madara as we know loses this battle as well.. (But the thing is... If Hashirama maybe had 5 to 6 tailed beast in his possession before vote 3, then all Hashirama had to do was gain the support of them then Madara really would'nt have stood a chance against him. Either way he was screwed)
After Madara's defeat, Hashirama gains control of Kurama an gives it to his wife Uzumaki Mito.. The story goes on from there..
My whole thing is.. If Hashirama had did what Naruto did an be-friend the tailed beast, then he would've been unstoppable in the NV an probably the ultimate shinobi only second to Hogoromo himself....
(I didn't post scans because we who have read or watch this series should know these things)
