I'm mostly saying this because if you look back at the chapter where himself and Madara have a quick chit chat, there are no indications that Hashirama was surprised by Madara's new eyes. Therefore, he must know about Madara having rinnegan and quite possible some small amount of information about its abilities.

Though in saying this maybe Kishi just forgot and pooped that part.
