So remembering the last few chapters, it really got me thinking that it was Hashirama’s prowess which actually put the Senju above the Uchiha.
When you look at the scans you can clearly see Hashi’s Mukoton surrounding the battlefield, which clearly show that he could have been affecting the battle itself by helping his own clan; similar to how Naruto is helping the alliance right now, only through the surroundings instead.
The fact that Madara was still practically no where near Hashi’s power at this time, seeing as he only had MS and would have been almost blind due to the effects, would also support this. Madara literally came back a day later and still lost to Hashirama after getting EMS with PS.
There’s also that scan that said Tajima and Butsuuma were equals, the leaders of the clans were equals meaning that Uchiha and Senju were equal in strength - or at least close. This is even supported by the little spar they had, Tajima seemed sure that he and Izuna would be able to handle their opponents needing only Madara’s answer on whether he could take Hashi or not, again proving that Hashirama was the factor that toppled the clans.
Not only that, but the fact that it wasn’t until Madara’s and Hashirama’s rein in which the Uchiha began to defect.
So in short the reasons why I think that they Uchiha and Senju were equal prior to Hashirama’s rein are:
1: Hashirama seemed to be affecting the battle field
2: Madara had only MS against Hashirama when the Uchiha started to defect, and by the time he had EMS the Uchiha already wanted a truce.
3:The strongest of each clan were equals. Butsuuma was the Senju leader; the Uchiha wouln’t send someone of lower command to fight him.
4:Izuna was = to Tobirama and didn’t lose to him until after gaining MS.
5: Uchiha didn’t begin to defect until this rein.
I bet that if the Uchiha had just stayed with Madara they would have been equal, or the gap wouldn’t be as large seeing as Tobirama would still be left without a competitor and no one was shown to be as strong as him besides Izuna.
Anyway... These are my thoughts on this topic and I would like to hear whether you agree or disagree.
