Hashirama may have defeated Madara at VotE but Madara changed the history of the shinobi world. He surpassed even the SO6P and gained some of Kaguya's power. He (and Kaguya) are the only ones to gain the third eye by them selves (Sasuke doesn't count, that was a deus ex machina).

Madara soloes Hashirama, he gained the power of the sage after absorbing Hashi's cells and awakened the rinnegan and ended up leagues ahead of him after absorbing the Juubi.

Hashirama ended up getting an OP kkg, Izanagi did manage to do something, it allows Madara to put his plan in action, Fodderama fell for Madara's plan plain and simple.
