Hashirama really does love a peace scenario were all parties willingly consent,
Madara also loves peace, but he plans to bring it forcefully on everyone. This is why Madara is really dangerous, He believes he is going about achieving peace the right and only way.

Dude he hates the Uchiha more than anything. That's his hatred right there, and hatred leads to arrogance just like we've seen with Madara, Nagato, Itachi and Obito as well as the rest of Akatsuki. Tobirama is different from his brother. That bitch was responsible for the demise of Hashirama's and Madara's friendship. U_U
